Fave Firefly character...

Ok so i have no clue how to do polls, but im interested in seeing whi you guys liked best from the series and why...

Ok for me...

Obvilusly Mal....:heart: i mean with Nathan Fillion playing him, whats not to like? lol
I just thought he was written and acted sssoo well. But i personaly thought he some times had something a little Angelesk about him...Get what i mean? The billowing coat, the moody broodyness...And well the fact that Nathan is fit and doesnt mind getting naked is always a plus. lol

Kayley: Ive met Jewel (who plays her) and she is just the sweetes person ever. As for Kayley, i liked the fact she was quite innocent....but then in ways she wasnt, she could be quite meschevious, and i liked that. Her love for Serenity was so big, and she had alot of respect or Mal. They had such a cool relationship. And i gotta say, im a huge Kaylee/Simon Shipper!

Simon: :heart: Hes just hott!!! I like how he changed. Ok i dont think he was ever really excepted into the Serenity family, but he didnt give up. He loved River and was so dedicated to her. And the fact he was quite the bumbling idot around Kaylee was just so sweet...but yay to the togetherness of the two if the at the end of Serenity. (hoping to get to Serenity Infinty this OCt to meet Sean and Adam)

Jayne: Adam....yum! :heart: lol i just loved Jayne. He was so charasmatic and witty. He character was class, and enjoyable to watch.

Wash: He was just a sweetie.

River: I didnt really get her character, Summer is a fab actress, but i didnt like her much.

Zoe: I saw Gina in Angel and i admit i hated Jasmine. So i felt it hard to get to like Zoe in this. So she had to be my least fave of the cast.


So what do you guys think?

MAL!!! LOVE MAL!!! He's just that wonderful rogue bad-good-guy that I love!! He actually has more of a balance for me. He's a good-hearted guy but he has a bit of the naughty thrown in!!

Kaylee here definitely. I watched some of the extras on the DVD set and found it quite amusing that they requested that the actress gain weight for the role. They wanted her to look like she knew what a cheeseburger actually was. :roll:The bit of weight softened her quite a bit...much better IMO. She was scary thin.

That has little to do with me liking her on anything other than an aesthetic level. The rest of the charm was about the wide-eyed sort of innocence with which she viewed the world.

I love the scene where Mal says something to the effect of, "It don't bother me one bit to think you never shot anyone, Kaylee." when she admits she couldn't fire on...think it was Nyscah's (sp?) men.

The mechanic thing was sort of a cute bonus. Funny as...when she diagnosed what was wrong with the ship, while she was...well...with the first ship's mechanic...

I actually liked River best, next. It's sort of a toss up. I found the way that the insanity of the character was written and played to be very interesting.

Mal, for one. Nathan Fillion brings such charm and charisma to very role he plays; it's really quite astonishing how likable he is. His delivery is impeccable and his sense of humor is so sardonic. I think my liking of Mal has more to do with the actr that plays him. :D

I'm also a huge Jayne fan. He's such a jerk and at the same time a fun bumbling dim whiny idiot.

I have to agree, you all make extreamly valade points to who your faves are.

They cast was just fantastic, they did such a good job with the casting there. Esp where Nathan was concerend, and you're right jenni he is just brill at every role he plays.

Jewle is so sweet, and yes very skinny in real life, but im glad they made her character like they did. It was a nice change.

Jayne...hes just funny yes a bit dim at times, but i think deep down his heart really is in the right place. lol

My favourties are without a doubt Zoe and Kaylee. I found Zoe's bravery amazing and really got a kick out of her character. I found Kaylee just adorable as well, especially when Mal always gives her a little kiss on the head to show his affection for her.

I actually never liked Jane.. I don't like Adam Baldwin though so that's probably why.

I can't choose. I love them all. But I'll try.
1. Mal- He is just so cute...especially that booty of his. His sense of humor is just crazy and he is fun to watch. He takes stuff in stride and adds his humor when it is most need. One of Joss's best characters yet.
2. Wash- The man is just weirdly funny. I remember watching him in "A Knight's Tale" and he made me laugh throughout the movie. He is just a pleasure to watch.
3. Jayne- Yes its a girl's name but he makes it so manly. The "thug" is the perfect role for him. The little horn dog who loves gun...definitely one of my favorites.
4. Kaylee- Not the first time I've seen this actress act. She played in a Disney show for a while, disappeared off the radar and showed back up in a show about troubled teens. Boy was I surprised to see her shiny little face in Firefly. I didn't know she could act that good. Joss picked a winner when he found her for the part.

I loved them all, there wasn't one character I didn't on some degree love, but I would say Mal was my favorite. He was so charming and so funny, the only time I didn't love him was when he was dissing Inara, but we all know why he was doing that. :)

I know come Serenity, Joss had to wrapp things up, and he did with Simon and Kaylee...But i wonder why he didnt with Mal and Inara.

Inara was a cool character, she deff brought some class to the crew of Serenity. lol

Honest to God, I can't choose out of the eight. I love them all for different reasons. They all have qualities that make me care for each and everyone of them. Joss did a superb job writing these characters that just pulls you in and make you want to take care of them when they're down, smack them on the head when they're being dumb and kiss them when they're just unbelievably wonderful.

But if had to choose, I'd say Captain Mal Reynolds.

Why? Because, well, I have always been fascinated by the shades of grey in a person. And Mal is exactly that. He can be hard, and stern and ruthless when he has to, but he can also be chivalrous, gallant and moral at the same time. I like the explanation when they were promoting Serenity:

Moral. Honourable. Criminal.

Those three words so succinctly embodies Mal. He is such a contradiction, and I love him for it.

I was basically in love with everyone but I definitely have to go with Kaylee as my absolute fave. She was just so cheerful and sweet and she had great chemistry with everyone and I just loved her.

Um okay explaination then, hmm... I chose Mal because he's definately the anti-hero. My favorite characters have always had a bit duality to them and always end up being a bit evil as well as the reluctant hero. Complexity, fantastic flaws, little bit evil in him from the part that died on Serenity Valley's floor.

Simon turned out to be my fav member of the Serenity crew, surprisingly. I loved his dedication to River, and his fumbling affection for Kaylee, I loved his interactions with Zoe and Mal who just didn't seem to know what to do with him, I loved his exasperation of Jayne. In my opinion he said some of the most accidentally funny things in the show.

My fav ever line is a Simon line. (I'm trying to think of a way you could be cruder it's just... not coming :lol:)

Well, I have a thing for really nice characters, so Wash and Kaylee are two of my favorites.

Wash is the funniest and is a good husband who is not afraid of letting Zoe 'wear the pants' in their relationship.

Kaylee is just cute as all heck, she's all girl while doing what is usually considered a boy's job. She's flirtatious and sexual while being fairly innocent at the same time.

I also like Mal. He's got some great lines like Wash, plus he's a wonderfully complex character.

Well, I only ever watched the season through once, so I'm not as familiar with this show as I am with most - but I would have to say that's it's a toss-up between Mal & Imara.

I found Imara's character so intriguing - or maybe it was just her storyline. Leave it to Joss & co. to make a prostitute - er, um, excuse me, companion someone of high repute...:lol: I found that to be an interesting aspect of the show.

I liked Mal...he was such a Joss type of hero - not entirely good, but not evil...just, quirky. I loved Mal & Imara's ship, and it really was a shame that Serenity didn't even touch on them at all...but it is understandable. A good series ship needs to be played out slowly, and to try and shove something together in the movie would have been cheap, so I can understand why Joss didn't do anything further with that storyline...but I think if the series would have continued it would have been a great story to sink our teeth into...:heart:

Seriously... Kaylee has always been first in my heart, but this really begins to change, and I find myself more and more fascinated by River. The fact that Summer Glau is so captivating in 'Waiting in the Wings' really helps too- she does extraodinary things to the characters she plays.

Love Mal big lots too, but Inara never did it for me.

I'm going to go against the main opinion and not say Mal. I like him - he's fun, charismatic etc. However, I've always had a thing for mad people. It something about never really knowing what somebody's going to say that I love. With lines like "I swallowed a bug" and "I am the ship", how can you not love her? Moreover, I love characters who look "normal" and then in a fight or on the dance floor, just excel. That's one of my many definitions of "cool", and I love "cool".

On the other hand, I must raise my voice for Simon. Because even though he's probably one of the more "ordinary" characters (although there are none), somewhere he got me. His mumbling, fumbling way with Kaylee and his way to handle Jayne - all just lead straight to my heart. His sister is just a notch higher up with the crazy...

I think River's one of the most important elements of the show and she really shines on Serenity. She's a fascinating character in lots of ways: I love how she can be crazy without loosing personality and intelligence. I think they could have played her character so that she lost that interesting spark and was just a liability.

A lot of them are very likeable, though. I'm very fond of Kaylee because she's refreshingly different from a lot of female characters: you expect to be shy and girlie and a cliche, and then she says things like "I haven't had anything twixt my nethers that weren't run on batteries."

The only character I didn't like at all was Simon. I found him dull.

But i feel as if there is alot of potiental for Simon. He kinda reminds me a lil bit of Wesley...and we all know where Joss took Wes...

He reminds me a bit of early Wesley too: trying so hard to do the right thing and obey protocol. It seemed obvious he had the potential to rebel. That's what I found dull: Joss has explored that kind of character before, and I feel that gave Simon a limited range. Even his awkwardness with Kaylee reminded me of Wesley and Cordelia.

I have to go with Kaylee. I love that combination of blunt and innocent. She cracks me up. I also love Simon. In fact, I rather love them together. What is the ship name for them? Kaymon? Siylee? Hmmm?

Kaylee is a big favorite though. She has such a wide-eyed, unpretentious view. She comes across so innocent, but as you dig deeper you realize that is not the case. She is a woman who is more than holding her own. So what if she's not gung ho to shoot someone. It's that little bit of naivety which makes her so loveable.

I love all of the characters. But I like Kaylee most of all! :)
