On Buffy something that always struck me was how ignored Willow was through the better part of her highschool existince. She was cute and savy and no guy seemed to really notice. But then there was Oz. He noticed this the first time he saw her and was instintley caught. (from Inca Mummy Girl)

"Oz notices a girl in the crowd and
stares intently.
Oz: Hey.
Devon comes over to him.
Oz: That girl. Who is she?
Devon thinks he means Ampata.
Devon: She's an exchange student. I think she's from South America.
Oz: No, not her. The Eskimo!
Devon goes back to continue singing. Oz is enamored of Willow.
This was an instant attraction but most of us seemed to route for them even though we didn't know much! That was one of my favorite aspects of this couple. That it built natrually but still had that Sunnyville quality to it.
Oz: A werewolf in love
Yeah, Oz a werewolf, I guess no one in sunnydale could date someone normal, but these two were the ones to relate to. I love that Joss gave them ups and downs. From Willow cheating on Oz, to him at Christmas taking her back and their sweet resolve from their on just falling deeper in love.
This became one of my favorite couples, only because first off at least with the actors I felt as though it was one of the best set chemistries on the show. For me one that really proved it was when Oz paniked and kissed Willow (in Graduation Day Part I. It was so them yet it was so them journeying on a more grown-up leval.
Though sometimes I want to slap Joss, for never really giving characters a happily ever after, I do have to give him credit on this. I think that though heartwrenching to watch and to think about the end of WOZ, is so beautifully done in it's not one but 2 episodes that the closure makes me still love this ship but still like the Willow and Tara relationship to. I think that Oz was one of Willow's great loves, and the dedication that they showed in the relationship was quite wonderful to watch.
I have to take a moment to continue on with those two episodes
I love that WILD AT HEART was built to end, and make us more heartbroken for this relationship. Theres not many like this one. And though its heart wrenching the last scene has to be one of the best, summing up the relationship
Willow : What are you doing?
Oz : I'm going.
Willow : Now?
Oz : Mm-hmm.
He zips the suitcase.
Willow : That's your solution?
Oz : That's my decision.
Willow : Don't I get any say in this?
Oz : No. Veruca was right about something. The wolf is inside me all the time, and I don't know where that line is anymore between me and it. And until I figure out what that means, I shouldn't be around you... Or anybody.
Willow : (Crying.) Well, that could be a problem 'cause people... Kind of a planetary epidemic.
Oz : I'll find someplace.
Willow : Well, how long?
Oz : I don't know.
Willow : Oz... Don't you love me?
Oz : (Holding her pressing his forehead to hers as she sobs.) My whole life... I've never loved anything else.
Willow : Oz... Oh, god. Oz...
Willow is left standing crying. Oz walks out and puts his bag in his van. He gets in and starts the van. He pauses then cuts the engine. Then he starts the van again and drives away.
And after that Oz, almost going back inside but leaving for Willow so he could come back. ( I think in the commentary Joss and Seth Green both say how misleading and heartwrenching that final scene is)
And in New Moon Rising, I love how they deal with the jealously issues. He becomes the beast because of her when she was the one that he did that for. Oh how sad, how ironic how Joss Whedon of the show.. but I love their goodbye.
And the reason is that we have gotten to know this stoic Oz, and we realize how much she meant to him, that he was able to let her go...
WILLOW: I missed you, Oz. I wrote you so many letters... but I didn't have
any place to send them, you know?
(Pause.)
WILLOW: I couldn't live like that.
OZ: It was stupid to think that you'd just be... waiting.
WILLOW: I was waiting. I feel like some part of me will always be waiting
for you. Like if I'm old and blue-haired, and I turn the corner in Istanbul
and there you are, I won't be surprised. Because... you're with me, you know?
OZ: I know. (Pause) But now is not that time, I guess.
WILLOW:(shakes her head) No.
(They look at each other.)
WILLOW: What are you gonna do?
OZ: I think I better take off.
WILLOW: When?
OZ: Pretty much now.
(Willow nods. She's teary again. Oz leans over and they hug.)
By the end of New Moon Rising, when the hug is over with (and I'm sitting in tears) I feel resolved, but still love watching this relationship, grow and end. And always have deep admiration for this ship.
Anyone else have anything to say on this ship?
