(with slight apologies to Andrew Marvell)

I’ve danced with humans through the skies
They loved me with their foreign eyes
Though Rose was soft and near and warm
I craved the dark electric storm
She held my hand across the stars
But never gave me fire like ours
My nemesis, my newfound foe
My other self, I can’t let go
You’ve walked in blood so very far
But I can love you as you are
We’ve lived so long, played cat and cat
No game can matter after that
Let me protect you through the night
I cannot lose you now, so fight
You stubborn bastard, change your face
This is our first, not last, embrace
Without you space is just a gap
The world is dying in my lap
But you refuse and here it comes
The fading shudder of the drums
