Challenge 29: Patience Is A Virtue

Hi everyone, I hope this goes OK, I didn't think that this challenge was quite so soon!

This challenge is about the good in people and how it can define them and their role in life. It's about finding the good in people and seeing the moments where the good in someone overcomes the bad.

Entries for this challenge could fit into one of two categories:

Category One - Character

For this category, I want you to make a character based piece showing either a 'good' character/s (on the 'good side', the 'white knights', a character with qualities deemed 'good') or a character with reference to a specific good deed that they have done (even if they are a generally 'bad' character).

Category Two - Moments

In this category, pieces should show either an actual good deed at the moment it occured. For example you could show Buffy sacrificing herself for the sake of the rest of the world, or something smaller, like Xander telling Dawn that she's extraordinary in Season 7.

Rules

Fandoms: All and any, film or TV. I don't watch many shows, so if you feel your piece needs an explanation for a complete beginner to understand then please go ahead! If a particular piece needs to be in spoiler tags then please do so, we don't want to spoil anything for anybody!

Sizes: 800x600, 1024x768, Wallscroll

Entries: Unlimited, they don't have to be in the same post, but if you prefer to edit them in that's fine.

Awards: Hopefully many - it depends upon the number of entries. Definitely places for both categories (probably 5th - 1st for each), with the possibilty of other awards.

Deadline: 6th August - 4 weeks

Explanation:
This piece features Rory from Gilmore Girls. The character is a straight A student, she doesn't drink (until she's old enough) and she has a (more than) good relationship with her mother. Videlicet, she's a "goody-girl".

Buffy = Good Guy. 'Nuff said. :p I used promo images from the second season, when she was really beginning to understand more about what it means to be the Slayer as well as the good impact it has on the world.

Ok, not so original... but anyway :). I wanted to do this moment for this challenge because not only was it a 'good deed' moment it also highlights both Xander and Dawn's virtues. Neither of them have superpowers or superknowledge but they both do what they can, reading, fighting, fixing windows, because they both know it's the right thing.

*Jumps up and down* Yay, first Dark Angel art. 'Splainy. Logan is an underground journalist with the alias Eyes Only, the 'last free voice left in the city'. Logan broadcasts short news breaks to expose dangerous and malicious men, and protects those in the world who need protecting. Logan's a good guy, who could live a comfortable, naive life but instead risks his life and body for the greater good.

I thought I would enter this piece since I just made a few days before you posted the challenge. It just fits so well, so I hope that's okay. :) It really doesn't need explaining, does it? As for the style...I know a lot of people don't like to use or look at a lot of caps, but I think it depends. It's all about creating a focal area and then shaping the images around that. Occasionally I like to use a lot of images and make a true collage, one that integrates several pictures.

And another. From <I>Bones</I>. Dr. Brennan comes off as very stiff and cold and it is used against her by the defense while she is testifying for the prosecution. As she tries to explain why she comes off the way she does, she delivers a really heartfelt dialogue about it is only the dead victim that matters and not herself. It made me tear up a bit and I thought this scene fit the challenge well because Dr. Brennan reveals a lot about herself in her testimony, something she hardly ever does, for the sake of victim. Anyway....

Hope this is acceptable. It's for Category 2. I decided to do the scence where Buffy goes back to Spike's crypt as the Buffybot. It's the episode Intervention where Glory tortures Spike to find out who the Key is. Buffy let's him think it is the Buffybot where in actual fact it's her. She kisses him and let's him know she'll never forget what he did for her and Dawn. I think it's a good deed because even though the thought of Spike creating the Buffybot grosses her out and she knows how he feels about her, she still kissed him and treated him like a man.

My God I ramble on but I'm not very good at explaining the thoughts behind my art...sounds okay in my head but not when I actually try to put it into words LOL.

For this entry, I chose when Faith turns herself in in 'Sanctuary', in all senses her realizing that she needs help and that the things she has done are bad, and that she needs to pay for them. This is her first step towards becoming a better person, a good person. I made it light and dark for that very reason, that it's a conflicting moment for her, but she knows that it's for the best, which is huge for Faith as a character.

Willow becoming a goddess by giving power to every potential slayer in the world...If that's not a good deed...? I'm not sure if it's category 1 or 2 because it shows a good person, a "white hat" and it shows a moment too...

IMPORTANT: you have to use the zoom option with the little plus symbol before "big sizing" the window, otherwise Big Willow's teeth and little Willow's eyes looks weird, don't know why....

I piecked the scene form "Choices" where Faith saves Wesley by killing the bug. Maybe she didn't mean to save him, but she did it anyway. I don't know to what category you can refer this entry, probably the "Moments":)

My entry is for category 1 and it's of Haley from the show One Tree Hill. I chose her for my entry because I just think she's an overall good girl- she's really sweet, she's so innocent, she tutors (and is nicknamed tutor girl), she's a great friend and overall she just has good morals.

Alright, this is kind of late. I did a wallpaper ages ago for the moment where Sam pulls a girl out from the pool before she drowns, but... I really kind of hate the wallpaper that I did, and when I read this challenge I decided to do this scene but with a whole new take on the piece, so I have made it much lighter and used some different images and textures, and basically it's a whole new piece, jut the same scene as I've done before. It's not my favourite piece ever, probably 'cause I hate working with a light canvas, but hey.
