Don't worry, I'm not expecting everyone to art Blake. But we are getting cra-cra-crazy in here (unless you don't want to ;))

"But we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy..."
I want craziness. I want something wild and unruly. I want your art, but re-re-remixed. I want you out of the box- and little toe across the line is great!

What, with all the insanity that's we've been experiencing with the forums and such, I think we need a fun way to focus all of the craziness. An outlet for all of the chaos. Show me crazy, like a scene or a character. Or do something crazy with your art that you've been wanting to try, but didn't think you could pull off. Art a fandom you've never arted before. (Or stray away from an all too familiar one.) I'm sure you can interpret crazy in many ways:D And any interpretation of the challenge is acceptable.

You might want to be careful though. Sometimes the art can get chaotic to the point where I just don't get it. I mean, I'm all for art that's all over the place and I love messiness in pieces, but let's not get sloppy. I just don't want to lose the meaning behind the art ;)

Rules
It would feel wrong to have many, so I guess these are just guidelines to clear up any of the usual questions

Fandoms: Any fandom is acceptable. You can also do celebrity pieces and stock art, if you want :) I just want a short (and/or thorough) explanation for why your entry fits the challenge. And please keep pieces in spoiler tags, if needed. I'll leave that up to your discretion.
Sizes: Any crazy size you can think of! I do prefer larger art though ;) Wallpaper sizes, wallscrolls are spiffy, but if you want to try something else, be my guest :)
Entries: Unlimited. I like to see them as the come in, but you can keep them in one post if you prefer :) Also, please state your resources!
Deadline: July 21-I'll try to end it at midnight Pacific time (since it's my timezone)

When I saw the word 'stocks', this challenge immediately became the best excuse in the world for me to use my stocks in singular art! And it was hard because at the same time it gave me ideas for character pieces and the need to just fill this thing in. :p Awesome challenge idea, JJ!

You said any fandom, so I guess movies are ok?

Soo, crazy? Well, the first thing I thought of was a crazy person acting psychotic, and remembered that I have "Girl, Interrupted" on DVD and cracked it open.

For anyone who hasn't seen it - it's about a girl (Suzannah, played by Winona Ryder) who gets sent to a mental hospital for trying to kill herself - although she doesn't believe she's crazy. She befriends/falls in love with another inmate (Lisa, played by Angelina Jolie) who really is crazy. Just as Suzannah is about to get out, Lisa finds her diary and flips, threatening her dangerously. Suzannah gets away and Lisa chases her down the basement tunnels of the institution. This is the scene I chose.

I also wanted to experiment with filters and colours, so both of these are used in a forceful way in this piece. The idea being that the strong filter and colours are to show the anger and complete loss of control that Lisa is going through in this scene, and I loved that it made her eyes so "manic" and piercing. The usually beautiful Angelina looks scary!

Entry 1.
Well, at first I really wanted to do a manipulation... but then i remembered how not good I am at them, and opted for the more traditional wallpaper type thing.

But yeah "crazy".
While my art may not look quite so, it really is very.
At first I just had the background, which looked kinda pretty, and in itself was a lot more abstact than what I ended up with. (I used exactly the same caps, but they were completely unrecognisable)
But in the end, i decided that while that was interesting looking, I'd much rather make some real fanart, so here it is.
New new doctor, talking about new new new new new new new new new new new new new new york. I may have got the amount of 'new's wrong.

Entry 2

For this one, I wanted to capture the 'driving buffy crazyness' of the endless mummy hand loop. I kinda failed, but I like the picture sorta.... so here it is.
The lyrics are from 'Aint it hard' (obviously) by the Electric Prunes, a song which I think fits the whole of season 6 pretty well, but particulary this episode.

Entry 3

I'll probably touch this one up later, but whatever.
I've wanted to make this for SO long, ever since I finished A Clockwork Orange, and had the uncanny feeling that the Buffy writers sort of thought "how can we make Spike part of the scoobies? I know! Lets just rip off a famous book/ movie. No-one will notice!"
For anyone who hasnt read it, I'm putting a short summery of A Clockwork Orange under the Spoiler cut, because it doesnt make much sense without it.
It turned out a lot more like a movie poster than I intended. No wait! I meant it, really! I was being creative! *Shifty eyes*

Alex is a sadistic rapist/mugger, who spends his nights with his droogs, getting into gang fights, doing the "old in and out" with young girls, and spends his days not going to school.
After a failed break in, in which Alex accidently killed a lady, his droogs, sick of him bossing them around, beat Alex up, and leave him to be found by the police.
Alex is sent to prison, where he murders an inmate, and in sent to another correctional facility, which at first seems to be nicer, but its soon revealed that twice a day he is to sit through horrible movies of rape and ultra-violeence, (The two things he loved), while being medically induced to feel sick. Through association, he soon finds out the cant see, or perform violent acts without feeling sick.
He is released from the institution, "cured", and finds he cannot return home, as his parents have a lodger in his bedroom. After wandering around aimlessly for a while, getting attacked by old victims and such, he is eventually tortured by a man who's wife he killed back in the day, and tries to commit suicide.
He awakens in hospital, and finds out he is cured of his programming, and can do as much violence as he wishes.
With a new gang in tow, he sets out to do just that, but quickly finds out that it has grown boring for him. After meeting one of his old Droogs, Pete, who is happy with his girlfriend, and on the way to making a family, Alex realizes that that is what he really wants.
The term "Clockwork Orange" seems to refer to the fact that you cant make an artifical fruit grow, it can only grow if it is left to do so naturally.
Phew.

I was listening to Madness in the car, and generally, I'm quite uninterested in their music, but anyway, the one line stood out to me: "I'm as honest as the day is long, the longer the daylight the less I do wrong." And it just seemed like a nice cute way of describing vampires. So I made a little piece about my 3 favourite vamps, Spike, Dru and Angelus.

Well, I didn't exactly go crazy ot attempted something strange with this wall...but I thought this would fit nontheless. I have had this picture of Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres on my computer forever, but I had never had the chance to use it. Reading your challenge, it came to my mind...I love how silly and idiotic Nathan is in this picture, and I also like Gina's reaction to him! :D :lol: It's great to see they go a little crazy and have fun, between takes! ;)
As far as the text goes...not the most original LOL, but it fitted...I hadn't even noticed you had used the same song line in the introduction of the challenge, until it was too late! :lol:

So this piece was majorly inspired by your icon work that I was browsing last night. It's crazy because well...I've never done anything like it before. Ever. It's extremely different from my usual fanart, in my opinion, and overall, the wallpaper has a fun, crazy feel to it. It's about Veronica Mars and her...lack of care for her bad reputation. It's just a character piece for the whole series, I guess, since Ronnie's rep never really improved fully. And, again, I honestly can't decide which version of the wallpaper is best so that's up to you. :)

Ok, so the he idea I had was fan-crazy-love for actors we've never met - how obsessed we can get, spending hours pouring over actor-websites, downloading images, making fanart etc etc...hence the images of three gorgeous actors looking downright sexy posing for photos for magazines etc which they must know will be drooled over lol. Also crazy cos its a crazy makebelieve world in those images - Gabriel Byrne is making with a woman who looks very like a store dummy, for example - the photos show an ideal, unreal world...

Entry One - Dancing

I wanted to do a piece on Angel/Wesley dancing in "She" because that is the craziest moment in AtS imo! I loved it! Since it's so crazy I wanted to do it. King of Cretins, Dan, also gave me the idea to use the text from "Deep Down" because it's hilarious with this scene. I think the idea is good, but not the actual wall.

For this second entry I tried something different, that I had never tried before...but I don't think I pulled it off completely. I don't know what to think! Anyway, that's my attempt at going a little crazy! :p: Besides, also the subject of the wallpaper fits the theme of the challenge....it's from PB 1x17, where Michael pretends to be having a psychotic break in order to get into the psych ward, and be able to talk with Haywire and get him to remember the missing piece of the map. Everyone is fooled, of course, Michael being an Oscar-worthy actor! ;)

My reasons for making this piece for this challenge where three fold. Firstly Luna is the wacky and chaotic weirdo of the world of Harry Potter, and in the world of wizardry that is really saying alot, so she deserves her own ode to chaos. Secondly, pop art is not a style of art I'm a really familiar with so I was kind of going outside my box with that too. Thirdly because I've never done any Harry Potter fanart before and I thought this challenge was a perfect time to change that :D.

Alright I wanted to do something a little different. I made up a new brush set, and wanted to use every brush in this piece make it look scribbled and messy and go overboard. I added in a stock of crumpled paper in the background, and some ink drips too. Basically I wanted to just try and do a style I haven't really done before, and a fandom I haven'r arted (barring one very unsuccessful piece a while ago). So that's my crazy piece. Explanation of the piece is below.

About: Basically I wanted to show clear scribbles in the background along with blurred ink drips, and have a broken clock to show how nothing is written in stone when it comes to destiny and Tru and Davis have a hand in changing fate. I really wanted to use light flickers through the piece to show their work bringing light into the future, and hope from how they help people. Hope that made sense. :P

Okay so this wallpaper is a combination. It's about a crazy character, Fred in the beginning of season 3, she was so much fun! And I tried some filters, gradients, and textures I had previously feared/steered clear of. I love how it came out though :)

This piece is crazy because I made it a la Beth. I just love Beth's art and her ability to make such great pieces, while keeping her caps in their original form. I've wanted to experience that sort of art for a long time, so this challenge is the perfect time to try it. I hope I was able to make Beth's art some kind of justice. Also, even though I make Buffy art often, this is my first Ruffy piece (rewatching Season 4 has that effect).

Well, at first I hadn't planned on entering. Especially since my work feels like crap these days, but you and Bre poked me hard in the side and I actually decided to try and do something new and when reading the info about your challenge I just got this bright idea that I just HAD to make.

Personally I find this to be one of my best pieces in a LONG LONG time. It's different, like you told me to do, it stands out and it celebrates the one thing that has been constant in my life for the past 7 years. Hope you like it, and that it lives up to the rules of this challenge.

Crazy piece here because I inspired myself from JenniLou's work. I love the way she incorporates many caps in her walls but at the same time, keep the composition flawless. Also, I love the way she makes her text stand out in a beautiful way. So, I tried to make my own version of her work. Crazy piece also because it's a Spuffy one and I usually only make Bangel art.

I just finished this piece yesterday. While it may not look 'crazy' to anyone it is to me because it's a style that I am completely unfamiliar with.
I'm usually not into the boxy style and I've never been very good at it either, but I had to do it for my battle with Romain and it made me feel like it's a style I needed to explore more, so I wanted to try again :)

Okay, here's probably my only entry. I had these images on my computer for so long that I don't even remember where I got them anymore. It was before I started saving images with the name the site I got it from, so if it's yours let me know so I can credit you.
Mostly, I just went crazy with the colors. I used a lot of brushes to create a very chaotic feeling. And the text is because she looks as though she's looking up at someone she doesn't know.

So my first entry is of the musician, Cat Power. I don't know what this is- but it definitely isn't my style. I experimented with some stocks and used gradients differently than I normally do. And well overall it just isn't me. And even crazier ...I didn't use any textures. :o I always use textures, I don't know if I've ever made a wallpaper without them...so that's just very weird.

Ok, this is the really first entry I post because I'm new here :) So I hope everything is ok....

So why this is a crazy piece ? Well it's not really my normal style...even if there's still a color explosion (I'm addicted to colorful art lol). But what is so unusual about it is that almost all of the ressources I used are mine ! I never use my own textures or patterns because I don't think they're great...but I decided to give my stuff a chance and went crazy with them ;). Also, I used an Eliza pic, which never happens because I'm not a big fan of her (sorry for those who are ! lol). But this pic have a certain craziness that I love.
So that's it ! Everything is about new and crazy things :D

You and Jenni Lou are really big inspirations for me and you two probably have some of the craziest art around in terms of design, so I thought that I might try some sort of mix between your guys' and see what I came up with. Lately I haven't been able to art anything but stuff from the Psych Season 2 promos, so this one is of Shawn and Juliet and their love that will happen eventually...that is unless that other woman gets involved soon. :lol:

This is of model Daria Werbowy and it is just plain weird. I experimented with a bunch of different stuff and it was pretty fun. So basically the craziness in here is the composition, use of colour and like almost everything else. Also, I used editorial pics which I've done just a couple of times cus although I love them, I find them hard to work with- I even attempted to make a wallpaper out of these pics a couple of times previously.

Here, I am trying a new style. I used a lot of texture of bright colors to try and get that feeling of love emanating from Jim (John) in this image. I love this couple and the thought of romance between them seems perfect for the characters. So that's what I was trying to do and this is my art remixed.

EDIT: I re-uploaded the image as a png file to get that transparent look I was going for. Don't know why it didn't show up that way in the preview though.

I just have to start by agreeing with everybody at how amazing this challenge is. I haven't had this much fun arting in quite a while!

Why it's Crazy
Well, for one, I've never ever done anything like this. I almost never do layer upon layers with brushes and the like. Also, I was going for something fun with the colours (for me crazy = fun). Moreover, the first thing that came to mind when I read the descripton was "BANG! BOOM!" in the background of a piece, I've wanted to do that for ages!

Of course its a Psych one because that is the only thing inspiring me at the moment. I was making something else with this promo and I loved how I got the coloring (kind of a fluke but thats how it happens most of the time) so I decided to make a wall with it.

I was thinking about who to make art after, and I realized that I have never tried to do something Kirsten @ Comforting Lie has done, so I attempted her style and really love the outcome. I made two versions because I couldn't decide which pattern I like more.

Alright, so a whole new fandom for me, I have only just watched it, so this is my first piece for the series... Heroes, :)

And not sure if this needs to be behind tags or not, so I'll do it just to be safe, it's from 1.19 0.07%

I wanted to make a collage out of images of Isaac and his death, juxtaposed with the paintings of his death, and how it all comes together and meets.

Now for the crazy part. I basically took a whole bunch of images and placed them on the canvas so there was a mixture between the painted Isaac images and Isaac promos, and they all sort of cut into one another, it was just a different style I wanted to try as I've seen others do something similar. I'd say the general style and ideas behind it were inspired by Ehlwyen, but I kind of just went with it once I started. Anyway, here it is...

This is of Jaye from Wonderfalls ...I'm not even sure if it's a promo, but it works anyways. First, this is my first Wonderfalls wallpaper. :) My last entry was like super crazy, so I wanted to do something that was less noticeably crazy but still something that really isn't my style. I tried some new things here and played with colour. I mixed black&white with colour and well I have done that before but only in a collage and not blended way. Overall it's just not me ...but I do like it.

Explanation:
Because anyone who knows me also knows that I do not and can not make light coloured wallpapers, lol, and I have always wanted to complete one, so here it is.

Basically I originally wanted to do a dark moody piece from Homecoming, but decided instead to take a different look on it. It was when Peter and Claire first met, and Peter survived and she thought of him as her hero, and she was responsible for saving him (her power). So I thought I would use 'Together We're Unbreakable' and use the light colours to show the hope, and strength between them, and the goodness and purity of their characters and what they can accomplish together. You know, something light. It's not my best work, but it is different.

Explanation:
So not my style at all. This was kind of inspired by Jenni-Lou, since she did a piece of Claire & Noah Bennet in gorgeous colours, I kind of tried to put a bit of her style into this, but hey.

Anyway I wanted to pose the question Claire asked the Haitian, wondering where her parents were as she so desperately wanted to know, but I have it kind of hidden amongst everything as she realises it's not what she imagined. I have Claire sort of looking on at the events, her dad driving away with just a slight look back, and her mum letting her down. I just wanted this image of Claire seeing them for who they really were, and what her real family was.

Entry 4: What's Done Cannot Be Undone

So this is crazy because it is my first wallscroll and cus it crazy long, lol. Also there is a crazy theme within it as everything that goes on in this storyline is just crazy & over-the-top dramatic. Plus, Dan literally goes a bit crazy at some points (a young 'ghost' of Keith haunts him). Another crazy thing is that all my text (besides one thing from the bible) is from Macbeth. I had an idea to make a wallpaper before using like one line from the play, but last weekend I saw this small production of Macbeth and had the idea to make it into a wallscroll because there were just so many lines from the play (and not just Macbeth's) I could use to describe what was going on in this storyline. To quickly sum things up, this entry is from One Tree Hill and is about how Dan murdered his brother Keith and how he dealt with it afterwards (like I said, over-dramatic!). And here's an explanation (which was supposed to be brief) of the whole storyline so you can understand...
so Dan murdered his brother & at first got away with it. So after that he starts imagining a young ghost of his brother, which shows his guilt. Then one day he finds that someone wrote murderer on his wall, meaning someone obviously knows what he did. He gets a few more messages similar to that. Through this whole thing, Dan starts to become a kinder person and he also starts to once again get closer to Karen (who he left a long time ago when she was pregnant with Lucas). Oh and Keith was Karen's fiancé which makes things even more complicated. So then Dan finds out this girl Abby is the one who knows what he did and at the same time Dan+Karen's son, Lucas, finds out what Dan did. When Dan finds out about Abby he goes to see her but doesn't do anything because he actually has become a better person and because he feels guilty, and she tells him she sent him those messages because she was hoping he'd be overcome by guilt & would eventually turn himself in. Then, after Lucas finds out what he did he threatens Dan with a gun (Keith was pretty much the guy that raised Lucas btw). Dan ends up turning himself in. Then while in jail, Karen goes to see Dan and is extremely angry, tells him off and spits in his face (well on the glass, lol). Dan is extremely saddened by this because he's lost everything he loves. He tries to commit suicide in the cell, but the noose breaks and that's how things end. wow, I hope all that made sense! lol

Well I stepped out of my SN box and dove into a fandom I've long wanted to do...Passions!!!...since I knew you'd at least have some idea of what's going on! :lol: And I just did a character piece which is so different from my usual episodic pieces. AND I tried out some new coloring methods courtesy of you. OMG look how bright it is!!! So though a peaceful entry, I at least expanded from my usual arting routine. :hug:

My second entry

What/why/etc....
Well, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one doing this "fandom", since it's actually a book... This piece is based on a drawing (http://art.callhergreen.com/sketches/Moiraine_4.jpg) I made last week. The drawing is of a character in the fantasy book-series Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (it's Moiraine btw). A year ago or so, I did two or so walls based on drawings. However, none of these were near as detailed in colouring as this and I din't add any textures etc. on them. Therefore, I find this crazy because I tried something I haven't done/haven't done in a long time.

Okay, so first entry for this challenge which I do have to say has been one of my all time favourites to art to. It's the challenge that has really made me want to start using Photoshop again, as it made me actually want to try to do something new.

First of, it's a piece from the re-make of the movie Hairspray (I've had to re-type that word about ten times I'm that tired now). This is a piece using a promotional picture of Zan Efron who plays Link Larkin in the movie. I really quite like the song he sings, 'Ladies Choice' which is why I chose lyrics from that song.

Now if anyone has seen my art, they know I have never done a piece like this before. I never start with a white canvas. It is always a black one or a dark one at least, but never white, so I had to get the blending better than normal (the dark normally covers the parts I miss :lol:). The filters are never ones I would use. I absolutely hated the filters I have used in this piece until I did this piece. I also attempted to do more a experimental text look. I love the way Jenni-Lou and J.J have their text in their pieces. So I decided to give that style a try and see how it turned out, I also used my first ever pattern. It's the whole wallpaper again just inside the text. I also used the largest variety of colors here than I have ever used. I think there are around 7 or 8 completely different colors (red, yellow, blue, green, etc) in the one gradient.

Okay, again, the crazy new style :D I made this last week and never got around to posting it. It's my first completely digital piece manipulation. Everything was a stock image, including the images used to make the texturing. Very proud of it for that reason. :2party:

I hope this entry counts, It's a piece based on Lex's VS Shadow Stalker which I've only made one piece for previous to this one and have been meaning to make more, I wanted to make a piece based around Rack in Shadow Stalker and his betrayal of his daughter Charlie, As for the crazy I wanted to try out different things with my art particularly colour and text, I don't usually use bright colours and text has always been one of the hardest things to incorporate into a piece for me, I also wanted to try a different style with this piece. Alot of inspiration from the artists here.

I used your textures, pics from PAAP and lyrics from Amy Studt "just a little girl".
The inspiration for this piece is Romain (creamy coolness). He work alot with light and he was hanging around in the back of my head when I did this without me knowing about it :)

Ok...this might not 'look' crazy...but it's out of the box for me. I always do my work in dark colors on black canvas...this one was on white in pastels...and if I ever do a pastel (very, very rare) it's usually of females...so this is out there for me...;)

Okay this is new for me, as for some weird reason I'd never done anything with the Buffy Season 8 pics yet. Also I tried to use a lot brighter colours than I usually do.

Tru Calling is an awesome show, but again shockingly, one I've never arted. This pic of Tru is awesome and this is crazy for me as its well, Yellow. It's a colour that is so rare of me to use, and I also don't often use brushes on my wallpapers but included a lot here.

Last minute entry :D

I'm still trying to perfect my manipulations - which to me, every time I attempt one, seems like complete new territory!! This a Willow & Tara manip, which in itself is a bit unusual for me, I've only ever arted them once before which was.... a few years ago. I also tried to make the colors and filters lighter than I usually do buuuut I don't really think that I managed to do so :p

Second entry. Just in time!

So I did a Buffy cast thing. I haven't ever put all the regular cast members (+ Faith!) in one piece before and I thought it would be fun. It took a really long time to cut them all out precisely. Stylistically I have done some things kind of similar so this was more of an exercise in giving love to a great fandom through all its wonderful characters.

Okay, totally LAST MINUTE entry :lol:

This entry is crazy for several reasons:
a) it's my first non-SN art in like ... forever!
b) it's totally not my style but my take on JJ style ;)
c) it's about Jaye, one of my favourite tv characters in one of my favourite tv show. She encounters the misfortune that inanimate animal objects start talking to her, demanding from her to do certain things, which usually leads to an unforseen chain of events. Whenever Jaye refuses to do their biddings they relentlessly start singing until she finally caves. It drives her crazy .. literally! :lol:

First of all, thank you for all the fantabulous entries! :heart: They were all so gorgeous and CRAZY awesome! It was an especially difficult challenge to judge. And second, I'm sooo sorry for the long wait! I wanted to get the awards up ASAP, but my life (coincidentally) got really crazy and hectic in the past few weeks. But I'm home now, and I have all these really neat awards to give!

Like I said, there were so many fantastic entries! So, I couldn't resist giving out more than a few awards ;) I split up the awards into three categories, and then decided on overall places. I really wish I could have given everyone an award. I was so impressed and proud of everyone who entered, and I'm so glad that so many people even gave this challenge a go! Anywiggle, enough of my rambling!
