Has anyone seen this? I loved it. They showed it in the UK and I hope they show the 2nd series. It's a great show, very quirky and great music.

Don't worry. I am also a fan!! I'm happy for its Emmy nominations and I think Lee Pace and Chi McBride and--actually--the whole crew are just amazing in this fun, swirly, vibrant series. I think it's pretty ad filmed so wonderfully. Awesome set decoration and colors. Fun, fast, 40's dialogue. A sweeping comedy with a dark slant. I recommend it fully and am anxiously awaiting the second season!

I loved how just utterly weird this show is. It's got an intoxicating mix of cheery and morbid. I just have to say, Chuck and I are running away and eloping in Vegas. We just haven't figured out when yet.

I think the comedy is great in it, the characters and settings are sweet and I really adore the music. I wish they'd release it. That's a really important part of the show for me.

This is a trailer for the new series which starts in October I think. :)

I really like this show, it was interesting and funny at the same time with the right level of dark humour in the mix. I love the colouring and the mixture of old and new things such as the clothing and technology, I also love the cast, mostly Lee Pace, Anna Friel and Kristin Chenowith, but the whole cast are great.

When I first saw the trailer I wasn't sure about it because to me it sounded like they were going to spend the entire series investigating Chuck's murder, but when it was over in the first episode I was intrigued as to how the show would work as a dynamic, but it was brilliant.

I think it's fairly obvious that this show was created by Bryan Fuller who also created Dead Like Me, I mean, the dark humour and also the random ways people die, such as the guy in the Taffy machine, it was brilliant.

What peeved me off about this show was that the station it was shown on here cut it so that we only got 8 episodes instead of the 9 just so they could show some crappy singing programme, it was ridiculous in my opinion, but I'm eagerly awaiting the second season which I heard is going to have more episodes, in the area of 22.

Oh yeah. It really brings a timeless quality to the show. Is it the past, the future or present? And the answer seems to be none of the above. People aren't squawking over cell phones, which is refreshing because you can't seem to escape that on tv these days. The costuming as a 50s flair about it and all the ladies look so lovely. And the colors are 60s. And the fast-talking dialogue is quite 40s. Etc. There are so many nuances that contribute to the cool timelessness of the series and it just so fun and pretty. :)

Please donīt murder me or something if I say that I think Pushing Daisies sucks. I mean, they try to be original but it just feels very contrived and there is no connection with the characters. And the narrator just pisses me off, in a royal way.

I agree with the narrator thing, he did start to bug me after a while, it was like they were just getting up to a cliff-hanger type moment and you were wondering what was gonna happen and then he spoilt it by saying.

But I don't get what you mean that the characters have no connection, do you mean emotionally or in general in the show?

Emotionally. For example, the romance between Chuck and Ned, they try to make it sound like some doomed affair, like they were meant for each other all along but I donīt feel that. I just donīt feel any connection with the characters. If you ask me, I like the detective (donīt remember the name). Maybe itīs because of the actress that plays Chuck because I just donīt feel her character at all.

And Iīve seen five episodes already, but alas nothing. I felt nothing.

Well it's just not for you. No big. They are plenty of series that I don't like that other just love. And I don't get it. That's the beauty of it all...there's different things for different people out there. :)

And I like the narrator. :)

Yeah, I was just coming to post those. I have them up as well. (http://black-celebration.net/caps/thumbnails.php?album=1634)

The internet is a strange place. I posted those pics on a big picture forum the other day (the place where I get a ton of my pics) and now they are all over the internet. Literally an hour after I posted them I saw them pop up at a few of my other haunts where I collect pics!

I absolutely adore this show. Just bought the first season DVD, which I'll dutifully need to watch in preparation for the premiere on 10/1!

In my opinion, a show that is cleverly written, acted, filmed, directed, etc. is such a breath of fresh air in the current climate of droll material we have out there. Pushing Daisies was my favorite new show of last year and I hope it sticks around for a long time.

Did you guys see last weeks episode?! I think the new one is on tonight actually. :headscratch: Anyhoo I'll put my thoughts about it into spoilers. :p

How adorable was Ned? When he brought all of Chuck's belongings to her new place. It was so sweet. And Olive going to the convent only to get all of her stuff taken away by all the poor people. That was pretty damn funny if you ask me. I'm still loving all the bright sets and stuff. That's what makes this show different that all the other ones. Especially the Bee place in this eppy.

oh yeah. The sets and the make-up and the clothes. When Chuck was in her underwear it was very 1920s-looking. I love how the show mixes times periods because it exists in one of its own.

I'm going to watch the newest ep very soon.

Oh, and let me add, I  Emerson. I think Chi McBride has such excellent delivery and he makes some of the best faces. Love that guy!

Alright for tonights episode all I need to say is....

MO COLLINS!!!!!!!! :happydance: Most people have no idea who she is, but her being a fellow Minnesotan AND the fact that I absolutely love the character Lorraine she did on Mad TV, I absolutely adore her. She played the sweet but totally insane nun to a T! And was that not the best "awakening" the show ever did?! All the church bells bleeping her F-bombs. :rotflmao: Oh god it was great. Plus her "evil face" when she was attacking the priest guy made me laugh pretty hard too. All in all, this has been one of the best eps imo. But then again, maybe I think that because I love Mo Collins and that's what made it better. :headscratch:

I'm also hoping Olive and Chuck become better friends. They're good for eachother. A guy shouldn't get in the way of that. :xd

I've heard this has now been cancelled :s

"In the November 21, 2008 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Michael Ausiello reported that the recently filmed thirteenth episode could be the last for the series. ABC has given no indication it plans to order additional installments to complete a full second season, despite the fact what might be the final episode ends with a "huge cliffhanger" involving a lead character, according to series creator Fuller.
On November 20, 2008, ABC announced that the network would not be ordering additional season two episodes."

It just seems no show is safe from cancellation nowadays. Iīve also heard that Eli Stone was also cancelled or is in danger of being cancelled.

Yeah, it was. As was Dirty Sexy Money.

So sad. I actually wouldn't be too upset, but seeing how Pushing Daisies has already filmed its last episode and it ends on a cliffhanger? Argh! They should have filmed two endings. They knew they were in danger of cancellation.

Poor Bryan Fuller. Every show he creates can't catch a break!

This monumentally sucks. Pushing Daisies is one of the most delightful and brilliant creative shows I've ever seen. Certainly the most creative show I've seen since Buffy. It will be missed.

Ugh, I'm sooooo disappointed with ABC! :cussing: I don't know what it is with them and their prime time shows. Do they honestly think every show they put on is going to be as popular as Grey's Anatomy or Lost? They're not even trying to give the little shows a chance to live up to their full potential! At least PD was doing something different and eccentric. I can't understand why they think that's such a bad thing. Gah, PD was one of the few shows I actually looked forward to during the week. Now all I'm left with is G.A, G.G. and Kitchen Nightmares. That's it. Three shows. One of which (G.A) is becoming really old. :sadwalk: Pretty soon it'll just be me and my Buffy dvds again. Thank god those never get old. :xd

But why do they cancel the shows? Is it ratings or are they afraid of not making a lot of money. Seems nowadays a show that is renewed to a second or third season is a survivor!

holypotatoes, I agree. Buffy dvds never get old and are better than a lot we see on tv.

Nina

The ratings were not just bad, they were really bad. If I'm right, it almost got as few viewers as ANTM, which is a The CW show. And that's a real lowpoint for a ABC series.

It's a pity that so few people watch the series, it is so much fun. :(

I think what concerned the network was that there weren't steady ratings; they were falling each week. Which means they weren't keeping viwers, they were losing them. And obviously, in the long run, that was a problem.
