Ok, I just had the idea that guessing something eachother would be fun. I'll give an example how it works.

lol. it was peter pan's flight. i've never even been to the california adventure park (the one with the upside down mickey rollercoaster). i like flying around the models of london and neverland. the lady running the ride just let me stay in the same ship around and around most of those 15 consecutive times. seriously--NOBODY was there that day (a rarity). i finally found the hidden mickey in the moon.

i also have a tendancy to repeatedly go on pirates of the caribbean, space mountain, the haunted mansion, indiana jones and the temple of the forbidden eye, alice in wonderland, mr. toad's wild ride and splash mountain (the line is long for that one, though).

And these are projects done for the Higher School Certificate. For a year. Not only are they very high quality paintings but also of sentimental value. Anyway someone told. actually, halloween is my favorite, but christmas is also a favorite! crazy costumes vs. lots of prezzies. tough choice. i love the halloween atmosphere, though. ah, i like both really. christmas is also an excuse to run my elvis christmas music... i listen to it all year, but it's less weird to others around the holidays. ::clicks song:: "got no sleigh with reindeer, no sack on my back, you're going to see me comin', in a big, black cadillac!"

whoops. one thing i did notice about the netherlands is that there were a lot of real blondes with blue eyes there. the u.s. is mostly brunette and the blondes are usually of the sandy/dirty/dishwater dark blonde variety. the netherlands definitely has a higher rate of recessive genes (although there are plenty of people with blue eyes here, too). the melting pot here in the u.s. tends to increasingly favor more of the dominant genes (which means the country is becoming largely brunette with brown eyes). i was actually a little surprised by a strange majority (or at least visible majority) of the dutch people seemingly being natural blondes. amusingly, blondes here are largely faux blondes. i *DO* live in southern california. bottle blondes are a running joke.

it was built in 1887-1888 by eliza bab**** and h.l. story (eliza bab**** threatened to shoot the monkeys and parrots which were making noise in the courtyard--they were removed), kate sessions--who designed most of the horticulture in san diego--designed the kate sessions garden in the courtyard, the electricity was the first on the west coast and was actually turned on by thomas edison, it has one of the first birdcage elevators on the west coast, every u.s. president since it was built has stayed there, kate morgan and the unknown maid (a witness to kate's murder) were murdered there in 1892--the murder was covered up by the hotel as a suicide--probably was kate morgan's husband--the hotel is supposedly haunted and the room that she was murdered in is booked with a years-long wait list, it was owned by spreckels at the turn of the century--he owned most of san diego (spreckels ferry, spreckels theater, etc...) and was the son of the "sugar king" of spreckels sugar fame, spreckels refurbished the hotel and opened a tent city on the grounds--tent city was so popular that it went on for almost 40 years, l. frank baum (author of "the wonderful wizard of oz" and the oz books) designed the crown chandeliers in the crown room, the prince of wales met his future commoner wife there in 1922 and abdicated the throne for her, marilyn monroe filmed "some like it hot" there, etc...

suffice to say, i did a report. lol. i also had multiple birthdays celebrated there with fancy dinners.

nope. i even mentioned him in that post! l. frank baum!!! the oz books! i even have a 1907 copy of "ozma of oz" and a 1908 copy of "dorothy and the wizard in oz". i have about half a dozen turn-of-the-century l. frank baum books (both under that name and his female pseudonym, edith van dyne--the "aunt jane's nieces" series--two of those from 1912 and 1914).

some of the oldest books i have are a whole series of rudyard kipling books from 1899 (complete with the hindu symbol of peace on the covers--the backward swastika!--rather un-p.c. nowadays). i also have a truckload of "dick and jane"s, "the five little peppers", "little black sambo", etc... i also have an incredibly ancient-looking copy of nathaniel hawthorne's "house of the seven gables"--i've been to this house (hawthorne's aunt's house) in salem, massachusetts (his great-great-grandfather was judge hathorne at the salem witch trials--which caused nathaniel to add a "w" to his name). i spent a lot of time in antique book stores as a child. my allowance often went towards turn-of-the-century l. frank baum books.

i also have two l. frank baum-themed pins (his crown chandelier design from the crown room and a pair of red ruby slippers) i picked up at the hotel del coronado. i also have some turn-of-the-century patterned china saucers from the hotel that they were selling off.

and i've been in the room that the unknown maid is supposed to haunt (known for supposed electricity malfunctions, film equipment gone awry and bed impressions), but not kate morgan a.k.a. lottie a. bernard's. i always visit the doors to their rooms on the 3rd floor every time i visit, though. i've also been to her grave.

is your favorite jane austen character... darcy? emma? i couldn't get through emma (and i'm the person who read the unabridged les misérables--long-winded isn't my turn-off). a bit too chickflicky for my taste. 50 pages of girly parlor gossip turned me off. herman melville's full chapter devoted to ambergris (a substance found in the bladder of sperm whales and used in perfumes) was more appealing and far more informative. ditto with victor hugo's chapter about waterloo. jane austen, john steinbeck and emily dickinson are my least favorite authors.
