View Full Version : What New Shows Will You Be Watching This Season?
Like last year, here's a thread to discuss the new shows scheduled to air this television season.
I'll be watching:
90210 - I never watched the original, but I've got huge respect for it, kind of, since it played a huge part in the formation in the whole teen genre. Though, who am I kidding, Shenae Grimes is one of the main reason I am watching it. I love her as Darcy on "Degrassi," which ironically, is a spin-off based on a teen drama, much like "90210." I actually remember hearing that the original Degrassi inspired the original 90210 in someway, so it's quiet fitting that she stars on 90210. I don't really know much about the other cast members, except for Jessica Walter, who I loved in "Arrested Development" and Lori Loughlin, who I remember from "Full House," but I think that's kind of a good thing.
Fringe - I watched the first 20 minutes of the Pilot earlier and it was really good. I highly recommend it, except if you're the type of person who has a weak stomach. There's definitely a few "Yuck!" moments, which is to be expected on a show like this. I highly recommend this to anyone who's a Sci-Fi fan.
Dollhouse - Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon. Okay, that's part of the reason I plan to watch, but even if they weren't involved, I'd still watch it. It has a very interesting premises. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it does.
Greek - Not new, but new to me. I watched the first season over like, three nights and I am in love. It's seriously, an excellent and original show. It's a great teen drama, especially if you hate all of the drama. All of the characters are likable at some point, even resident bitch Rebecca. Cappie and Rusty are two characters that you instantly love, they're that great. Also, Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia from Buffy/Angel & Kendall from Veronica Mars) and Max Greenfield (Deputy Leo from VM), have both appeared, though Charisma has only appeared in one episode so far, while Max's recurring. Seriously, everyone needs to watch this show, it's amazing. If you never wanted to join a sorority or fraternity before, this show will make you want to. I highly recommend this to everyone. I cannot stress the "Greek" love.
These new shows will be joining my old favorites: Brothers & Sisters, Gossip Girl, Chuck, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Smallville, and Supernatural.
So, that's what I'll be watching. What about you? :s

The only show that I've been intrigued to watch is Dollhouse. I'm a fan of Eliza and think Tru Calling shouldn't have ended so I can't wait to see her in something else. Plus I don't think with that show we'll be able to say the characters have OOC moments since they can be programmed to act certain ways. :p I think it'll be good no matter what happens.
You know what's funny though, I kept seeing those commercials for LG Televisions and they keep putting these adds for an apparent "show" called Scarlett which apparently doesn't actually exist, however I thought that would've been good. Don't look at me that way! I know you saw those commercials and thought it was real too.
huh, I haven't really heard about any new show that's coming out that sounds intriguing except for Dollhouse, which I am super pumped to see....:xd
But I will be watching Grey's Anatomy, Chuck, 24, Supernatural, Smallville, Lost, and Battlestar Galactica as well....:xd
Oh, and i love the new sit-com that came out this year, Samantha Who? I think it's hysterical so I'll watch that again if it gets renewed.

It's coming back. ;) And I liked it too. :)
I watch a lots of shows so I won't go into what I will continue watching yet but new shows I want to check out...
Fringe. 'Cause I love all of JJ's shows and have to give it a chance. (I posted the first promo pics of the show up on my site if anyone is interested.)
Dollhouse. For obvious reasons. :xd
That's all I know of so far. I haven't had a lot of interest in anything else I have heard of yet. Although I am sure I will end up watching the new 90210 at some point...'cause for some reason I always seem to find those silly teen shows even if I don't intend to start watching them.

I know! I say an ad on the internet and watched the trailer and was like "wow, this actually looks really good. Are you sure its not a tv series? Cause the website really makes it look like it is :cutecry:
As for new shows... "Dollhouse" and I think thats about it. I may check out 90210 just for the heck of it, cause I didn't mind the original series (though after Shannen Dorherty left... it kinda went weird).
So I gotta alot of old shows to stay tooned with, Criminal Minds, T:SCC, Smallville, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Big Love, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy... v.v

I'm pretty sure it's not hun. :comfort: I know, it's kind of sad. I found a CNN article (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/29/tv.scarlet.ap/index.html)that tells all about it. It's not real and they purposely were trying to fool people.
Dollhouse
Fringe
True Blood
Sit Down Shut Up
Though I've already seen the Pilots for Fringe and True Blood

How did you get to see the Pilot of Fringe?! Me wants :cutecry:
As said above, Fringe and Dollhouse. 1) JJ Abrams, 2) Joss Whedon, and 3) Eliza Dushku....'nough said.
And will be joining these in my lineup:
House
Prison Break
Bones
Supernatural
Smallville
Chuck
Terminator: SCC
30 Rock
The Office
24 (well, I need to catch up on a lot, actually)
Battlestar Galactica (mid-season)
Lost (mid-season)
Oh, and Heroes! Hope it's better. And Weeds just started up again but will probably be over by the fall season.
There might be a few more....man, I'm screwed

The existing shows I watch are "Heroes", "Lost", "Chuck", "Terminator", "Supernatural", and "Big Love".
The only new show I'm really geeked up for is "Dollhouse" -- I'll probably watch "Fringe", but it's only kinda interesting to me. I'll check out "Castle" if it gets picked up because of Nathan Fillion. I'll give "Life on Mars" a shot.

That really sucks, cause it looked like a kick ass cross between Buffy and Verionca Mars! Oh well v.v maybe they'll make it just to please the idiots like me.

It did look pretty kick ass! I thought it was real for a long time and then I was sadly mistaken. Maybe if we can get a petition going they'll actually make it. God know's there has been some crappy stuff put on the tv. Take that caveman show for instance. What the hell were they thinking with that one? I mean, I can understand making Scarlet from that commercial but not an entire show from those Geico commercials. Although a little animated show with the gecco could be cute. :p

"Dollhouse", naturally. I expect most here will check that out.
I will be watching "Caprica" whenever that airs. Beyond from the natural "f*ck yes!" factor a BSG spinoff inspires, somebody on another site got a copy of the pilot script and proclaimed it a cross between Battlestar and "The Wire". I proceeded to have an aneurysm. Those are two of my favourite shows of all time, so I'm really looking forward to this one.
I'll have a watch of "Fringe" at some point. The presence of Lance Reddick and Kirk Acevedo will make sure of that.
Sorry, Tristan Wilds, but unless Zombie!Omar is coming with you to Beverly Hills to fill some privileged asses full of lead, I ain't bloody watching.
Oh, yes, I may watch "Caprica" as well. I've only seen the "Battlestar Galactica" miniseries, the rest are somewhat hard to find, in decent quality at least, so I never went beyond that, though I would've like to. I hate jumping into a show at it's present point, especially in it's finale season. Anyway, I guess the beginning of the story is a good of place to start as any.

The shows I'm gonna watch this fall!!!
Dollhouse
Fringe
90210
Privilege
Battlestar Galactica(never watched it but it looks awesome)
House (never gave it a chance)
Torchwood (dont know where to watch it)
I've pretty much given up on primetime TV these days, most of it just doesn't appeal to me, I'm looking at a paltry 3 shows I'll make intentional efforts to watch:
24
Terminator: TSCC
Dollhouse
Heather
25-07-08, 05:09 PM
My shows for the Fall season? Hmm...
"Brothers & Sisters"
"Gossip Girl"
"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"
"Heroes"
"Dollhouse" ** (Winter '09)
"Fringe" **
"House"
"Smallville"
"Supernatural"
"Grey's Anatomy"
"Lost" (Winter '09)
"Battlestar Galactica" (Winter '09)
"Caprica" ** (Whenever it starts)
Yeah, that's a lot...HA! Oh well. I'm not really interested in many of the new shows, honestly. I might give "90210" a chance simply because I gave "GG" a chance and fell in love with it so there's a very good possibility that I'll fall in love with "90210," too (though it's freakin' unlikely since I already think that it looks cheesy and...not great...). :p
I'm totally hoping to catch at least one episode of Dollhouse when it comes out. I try to give anything that Joss comes up with a chance. I'm hoping this show will be good and stay on for longer than a season.
I might watch ONE episode of 90210 just to see how bad they butchered it. I've seen promo pictures of what they want to call a cast. God they look like a bunch of preps and sluts who need their butts kicked from one side of the boulevard to the other. How in the world did they look at 90210, and think that those actors/actresses would fit the bill for a remake/spinoff of that show?
Shows I will definitely be watching when a new season starts up are:
Battlestar Galactica
House
Criminal Minds
Bones
NCIS
Veverka
26-07-08, 01:17 AM
I'm into Dollhouse, and interested in giving True Blood a go... and I'll get back to Lost soon, stick with Grey's and Private Practice... and there are all too many that I'll try to start, like Dr Who, Torchwood and Supernatural...
Im going to check out Dollhouse too of course. And probably fall in love with it and then get really really mad when it gets canceled after 10 episodes. (although 10 might be too lenient giving it's FOX)
The other shows I'm going to check out are Kings, Merlin, The Ex List, Fringe, & Do Not Disturb.

Here's another vote for Dollhouse!!
But I'll also be watching JJ Abrams new show "Fringe" which looks pretty awesome so far!
AND...
I'm stoked to see that Nathan Fillion is going to get his own series on ABC!!! It's called "Castle". So that will be "must see TV" for me!! :2party:
I don't have HBO but I would be watching "True Blood" also!
Don't worry MelMel!! The way new show pilots and Joss Whedon go (and I'm crossing my fingers) these days - we may all be asking "what's Dollhouse"!!
No - I think the first season at least is going to be pretty exciting - especially for all of us Faith/Eliza fans!!!

I'm pretty boring, the only really new show I'm that interested in is 'Dollhouse' which I can't wait to see, I think it's going to be amazing :)
Other than that, it's pretty standard for me;
The Office- Anyone know when season five is out? :)
Heroes- Last season bored me to death other than Kristen Bell's character so hopefully it'll make a nice turn around or I might drop off this one :(
Terminator- I really liked this, it caught my attention for some reason. It's a tad cheesy but it's still just finding it's feet so I'll stick with this one :)
Supernatural- I come in and out of this one. I've watched all of season 1 and 2 and started watching season 3 but it just doesn't grip me for some reasonI'm sad to say, but I'm going to give it one more chance, who knows something might finally click "cross fingers"
This year I've mostly been watching:
Gossip girl
The terminator:SCC
Chuck
Dirty,sexy,money
Top model
SATC
smallville
scrubs
Angel ofc

Dollhouse for sure
And True Blood - it's dark and about vamps, i need at least one show like this :)
I watched Fringe pilot but i am not really into it. May give first eps a go anyway.
Probably Mentalist - description looks interesting.
And the whole bunch of not new shows :)

Based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books, right? I always say I'm not actually into vampires, but just get caught up in stories where, coincidentally, vampires happen to be involved  I've never actually read the books, but I've seen enough people I trust get caught up in them that it's sparked my interest. So you heard the books are good? I tried to read Blood Ties books after i watched the show but book characters weren't half interesting they were in the series... Same thing was with Dexter book, so i just stopped trying :D
On more sad note, they had cancelled two vamps show this year: Blood Ties and Moonlight... Hope True Blood has better chances to survive.

Oh I had gotten confused and thought blood ties and true blood were the same show. So True Blood is just starting? I look forward to hearing how everyone likes that. Being on HBO it will be awhile before I get the opportunity to see it.
As far as new shows, I'm planning on trying out Fringe and 90210, and come new year, Dollhouse.
I'm really sad to see Moonlight to go. It really filled my need for a show with hope, fun, and general positive outlook on the world. Too many shows are jaded (which I cant blame them since life is often pretty dark). However, I do believe life is what we make of it, so I don't like to fill all my entertainment with darker perspective shows.

I'm looking forward to Fringe solely because of Joshua Jackson. My guilty pleasure.
I've seen the ads for the new Selma Blair sitcom, and I'll probably seek that one out as well. I like Selma Blair and Molly Shannon.
Well I'll definitely be watching Dollhouse and I might also give True Blood a chance because I love vampire shows. :D
Other than that, I'll watch the new seasons of Supernatural, Smallville, Heroes, Terminator: SCC, Gossip Girl, Chuck, Bones, Prison Break, 24, Californication, Brothers & Sisters. Possibly also The Tudors and Grey's Anatomy. I have no idea how I'm gonna fit that all in every week, it's a lot of shows!
For sure Supernatural, Dollhouse!!, Californication (does it come back?)
On TV if I sit down in time: Gossip Girl, NCIS, House & Bones
And maybe that new show Cori mentioned: True Blood

Oh! I can't believe I forgot about that! I don't know anything about the original. Spooks s7
Ooh goody! I had serious fears that it wouldn't be coming back and we'd be left with the horrible travesty of Spooks code 9. More Harry! Hooray.
As for me, I don't tend to plan these things too much. I will definitely be watching the Who specials next year and will try to catch up wth House. If I can get Dollshouse then I should imagine I'll give it a looksee.

I"m totally hyped about "True Blood" and got HBO just to watch it. They have been showing 15 - minute trailers on the program and they're really creative in spots. I will definitely try "Dollhouse" because of Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku, although knowing Joss I am sure it will either be brilliant or crash and burn. I will continue to watch "Bones" and "Torchwood", as well as "Supernatural" and "Smallville". I'll try "Eureka" again, and "the Shield" and "Criminal Minds". Sometimes "Dr. Who" is good. "Evolve" has been very good, and I plan to continue to watch. Oh, and "Burn Notice" has been a dependably well-done funny action romp. I watch "House" and "The Closer" once in a while, but I think the formula of the super-competent professional with a screwed-up personal life has been done to death. I'm still unhappy about not seeing "Blood Ties" come back----it was witty and fun and the only thing I ever bothered to watch from Lifetime (ugh) TV.

Torchwood! Only around 6 more months until s3... *impatient* :( It just won't be the same..

WHAT!!!! GRrrr really wish i could swear right now. i'm gutted.l i love that show. can't believe they cancelled it! Another great show bites the dust... but at least i have dollhouse to fill the void
omg! :bang: I can't stand it! This is the first I've heard 4400 was cancelled! And why?! So they can make room for *more* shows they will cancel after we love them! (Yes, I'm still bitter over the Moonlight cancel!)
I don't see Dollhouse on the fall schedule - what network am I missing?

Wow, 4400 cancellation is old news. We've all had time to mourn already. Sorry it's your time to hear the bad news! It was canned along with The Dead Zone. Bother series were left without proper finales.
Dollhouse is set to air in the winter, so look for it on FOX around January. ;)
Once I get my Tivo,
These are the returning shows I'll continue to watch,
The Simpsons
King Of The Hill
Family Guy
American Dad!
Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles
Chuck
My Name Is Earl
The Office
These are the new shows I'm most looking forward to
True Blood
Fringe
Sanctuary
Primeval
These are the new shows I'll give a shot to, but don't really know if they will last
The Mentalist
Knight Rider
Life On Mars
Eleventh Hour
Crusoe
Other shows like Supernatural, Reaper, and some others will have to continue to wait, because while I really want to see them I haven't seen any of the previous seasons and I never jump into a show in the middle.
