Ok, so love is a word that gets tossed around a lot. I love you. I love ice cream. I love the Steelers. You get the point. There are many different meanings behind the word. You can love your new haircut, but you can also have a deep soul wrenching love for another human being.

In this challenge I want to see you depict love. It can be a lover's love for their mate. It can be a parent's love for a child. It can be a love shared between friends or siblings. Or it can be a love for a pet or inanimate object. The point is for your to show the emotion. I want to feel the love emanate from your art.

Now for the Rules:

~ Please keep your art to wallpaper size only. No wallscrolls as my computer doesn't like opening them...;)
~ You may art any fandom you choose. But please no Twilight since I plan on reading the books and don't want to be spoiled. Also, the following is a list of fandoms I am very familiar with. You aren't limited to these, but using these ones will probably give you an edge as I can readily understand the art better being familiar with them:

I've finally caved into the widescreen format, which is better since I have a widescreen laptop but I am so use to the 1024x768 that it took time for me to accept this and I have, but I have two versions just for those who havn't evolved yet ^_^

Now this wall was something that just hit me while I was reading the first post. Love, who has the strongest love on tv? PIPER AND LEO! And not just for each other, but for their sons (Wyatt and Chris). So I remembered seeing an image of Britney Spears naked and pregnant and I thought it'd make a great manip for Piper and I added Leo, just since it felt bare with out him. I dunno what more to say - I am just really happy with the manip and it seems a bit outta character for Piper, I think its a great way to show the love for their children.

I wanted to depict Spuffy love, that's why I picked "Touched", because I always thought it was that night they loved eachother for the first time, that's also why I only used caps with the both of them.
The trick for me was to show love, but do not fall into cheese 'cause...you know...that ain't Bangel (:lol:), so I used black goldish and pink (but dark pink), some light stocks (but not bright), stars (and not hearts) and Dido's song "Here with Me".

Neat challenge, I think I'm going to have very fun with this^^ (I have already more than a couple of thoughts of different possible entries :D)

Entry one:
Yes, I know you appereantly isn't familiar with Blood Ties, but I really can't seem to stay away from the series, and this piece, I guess fits perfectly. The series revolves around Vicky, a ex cop, now PI, who suddenly seems to be drawn to the supernatural. She meets Henry, a 400+ years old vampire whom she works a bit with. Although he is kind of in love with her, and there is a theme of an love triangle between her, him and her ex-partner. Anyway, he kind of lives in passion, and that is what's controlling him. Yeah they have some kind of affair anyway, and their relationship is a very fun thing, since both of them know how to quickly respond in quite an insulting but fun way ^^. Ok now I only feel like I'm advertising for the show ^^ (but it is a really good show)!

Awesome Challenge!

For my first entry, I chose to present Lily's love for her son, Harry. She sacrificed her self for him, and that love left a mark on him. The Lord Voldemort could not bare his touch because of her love.

Entry one: Blood sisters

I chose to portrait the love between Buffy and Dawn, with screencaps from the episode "Blood Love." Dawn finds out she's the Key, and so begins to doubt Buffy's love for her, and her own existence. But as Buffy explains, she remembers Dawn being her sister, and just like her, she bleeds Summers blood. Her being the Key doesn't change that Dawn is Buffy's sister in every way that counts, and, as we know, the love Buffy holds for Dawn is enough to sacrifice her life for her.

For my second entry, I chose the love between Xander and Willow. From the beginning to the end, they have always stuck together. From kindergarden, and broken yellow crayons, to the fall into darkness and scary veiny Willow. To the end of the world and back. A forever love, and endless love, that will always be there, no matter the circumstances, no matter what happens, as shown in "Grave" where Xander suceeds where everyone else failed - to bring back the true Willow, thanks to all his faith and love in her.

Decided to take a wee break from Euro 2008 and get some art done! Loving the challenge idea. Normally when a challenge is about love I immediately think Bangel but I decided to give all you Bangel haters a rest :lol:and I've decided to do one on Jim and Melinda from Ghost Whisperer. I just know that this is going to be a rambling incoherent explanation:D

Sooo Melinda can talk to the dead, Jim's a paramedic, so they are both in the business of saving people, whether it's their life or guiding them into the light. Both their jobs are kinda stressful but Melinda's is more so and Jim is the one she turns to for support and comfort. He's her rock and the love they both have for one another really shines through in the programme. They support each other no matter what by being there for advice,just to say "hey I'm here for you" or for a wee cuddle. I really can't put into words what I think of their realtionship, I just know that is so nice to see a happily married couple on TV these days, who work through any problems they may have instead of going off and having affairs. Who also put their partners feelings before their own. I just know that when I watch them together I can really feel the love they have (I know it's just a progamme but that's how good the acting is), it seems real, you can feel that connection there. Good dammit, I knew this wasn't gonna make any sense, but anyone who watches the programme will know what I'm talking about.:)
Anyway onto the art. I just picked a really good promo shot of them and tried to incorporate a warm, glowy colouring into it to symbolise how their love just shines out of them. Flower brushes for the luurve! and a stock of a tree to symbolise how their relationship is like a big old tree that stands tall and proud throughout the storms of life. Didn't bother with text so to speak (that's cause I couldn't think of anything and it wouldn't fit in anywhere:D)That's me I think:)

For my third, and last entry (at least I think so...), I chose to make a wall displaying the love between the Tam siblings, River and Simon, in Firefly/Serenity. Simon has always taken care of River (sacrificing his own future in the progress), and this is the moment when it is River's turn to take care of Simon, her turn to take a stance, her turn to be strong, the protector.

I really just love this scene between Willow and Tara, they're just so cute and funny, still laugh at it too. Their romance is really tragic so I thought it'd be nice to make something bright and amusing, but still lovey.

I'm Gonna Get My Son. 'Cause I am doing a massive rewatch of Lost. (I'm already at season three and I started just last week. :lol:) So I decided to do an entry about Michael's love for his son, Walt. They have such a complicated history--ironically since their history is extremely brief--and Michael will do anything for him. And he does. ANd it's heartbreaking. So, since you've watched the show you can probably see why I chose the images I did, as they all portray a closeness between and also what happens to tear them apart and what causes them to reunite.

This moment I think shows Wesley's love for Fred shining out loud and clear. He's terrified of losing her as much as she's terrifed for herself, but he puts that aside to comfort her, when she really needed it. It's a very simple peice and I still think it needs something else, but I made it late last night and was too tired to do anymore to it! Oh and BTW the clock in there is to symbolise how little time they have left.

Argh! I had this idea. I loved my idea. However, it's till just that - a lovely idea. I couldn't get it to work!! Furthermore, I got seriously sidetracked while making Lestat's hair (because the cap was cropped in a way that didn't show much hair...) which ended in a piece where I drew all of Lestat. However, when (after four hours!) I was done with him I was very "no way amd I doing that again with Louis!", so I had to go back to the original pictures... Like I told you in my PM, I wanted to make a Lestat/Louis piece. Because I love them (especially Lestat^^). And, of course, they love eachother.

Background/Thoughts etc. kind of spoilery for books/movie: Interview w/the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned
Lestat is one of a kind, really. He's a rock star in the true sence of the word. When he walks into a room all attention is on him - and he loves it! He sparkles. Furthermore, Lestat enjoys being a vampire - superior, strong and immortal. He doesn't just makes the best of the situation, he savours it. Of course, this has caused him some serious problems... On the other hand, Louis is not outgoing and hates being a vampire. For a long time he lived on rats and other small animals and refused to feed on humans. He hates the spotlight and chooses to live in a small dark house in New Orleans (if my memory serves correct...).

Lestat and Louis are opposites, yin and yang. Yet, they share a friendship and love that's extremley deep and beautiful. They understand eachother. It took a while, with Louis trying to kill him and Lestat not actually being able to share all the knowledge he had - making Louis think he was an incompetent fool! In this piece I tried to show the opposites. How Lestat simply radiates and sparkles. How he's all for fun and action, while Louis is catious and calm. Louis who think they deserve to be in Hell simply because of what they are (there of the tombs that you probably can't see right next to him). I chose the lyrics from "Hello, Goodbye" by the Beatles because it fit so well with them. Especially "You ask why; I say I don't know" which is very much the theme of Iw/tV. Moreover, I tried to center the light and most of the bright colours around Lestat and the darker colours around Louis. Mostly, to over exaggerate the happy vs. sad in thier relationship.

Another Spuffy piece. I already depicted the night they fall in love. For my second piece I chose the last scene of Showtime because this is, imo, the very moment Buffy thought she could fall in love with Spike, hence the lyrics "Is It You" by Cassie. I chose soft, warm color scheme and regular blending. Emphasis on Buffy's eyes because this is the very look that was saying "Is It You?". A moon stock because this is always pretty and was a way to make Spike stand out but keep Buffy's eyes as the main part of the wall and I still suck at description!

Nice challenge! For my first entry, I decided to do my favorite couple in the Jossverse: Xanya! :heart: I totally love them. I think they're both so funny and they're great together. I loved the moment when Xander proposed! It was so nice and I love Anya's line, "Ask me after the world doesn't end." Perfect. So, I arted this true love here.

I orginially didn't make this piece for the challenge but than realized it's a perfect match ;)

Grey's Anatomy season 3-4 thingies (no biggies though...)
It's a pretty simple Meredith/Derek (Grey's Anatomy) piece, where I had this idea that I'd show through their first (last name) letters that they're forever linked. Then I went overboard with the text (which looks a bit wierd in placed but whatever). I used pretty much a the whole lyrics from a song called "Dream Girl" (I re-made it "Dream Guy" because it's mostly Meredith's point of view), by Salem al-Fakir (Swedish artist). The song's about this guy (girl :p) who realized too late that the girl (guy) of his (her) dreams is already in his (her - is this getting annoying yet or what?) world, but he (she) is afraid that it might be too late and begs her (him) to come back. It's basically Meredith and Derek's relationship (these last two seasons) in a nut shell...

I mean I love them together, I think it's hillarious to see them and how they are together when you know they are the perfect couple or will be in the future! Yeah! Managed another entry. This bascially depicts the friendship/love between Xander and Willow. It concentrates on the episode Grave where Xander's love for Williow finally banishes Dark Willow. I chose this episode because it really sums up their friendship. No matter what they do, they will always be there for one another. I chose the song Bridge Over Troubled Water cause it's not only one of the best songs ever written, well in my opinion anyway, but it really sums up the love in a friendship.

First Entry: Say the Words
I've been infatuated...okay, obsessed with BBC's Robin Hood series lately. This piece is from the second season finale...

Explanation
So, I had a piece in the works that was from one of the listed fandoms. But that piece hasn't been working for me, so I made this one while I take a breather from the first one. This one is not from one of the listed fandoms, but I thought the moment was ironically sweet. And I would much rather art a moment that makes me happy right now, than one that depresses me and makes me cry sad tears. :lol:

Anyway, this scene makes me squeal like a little girl. I don't know if you need much of the series' backstory to get it. So...here's the backstory leading up to the scene. Robin Hood and Marian have both done things to piss off the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. The difference is that Marian wore a mask. And she worked within the corrupt system. Marian helps Robin in secret. Also...they love each other, but can't actually be together due to their different roles (? better word). So, they're secretly engaged. Eventually, Marian is found out and held prisoner. The Sheriff already has a plot in motion that leads to Robin and his gang being tied up in the desert, left to die. The Sheriff is hilarious, and decides that Marian can die with her Robin Hood. He has her bound to Robin, back to back in case you're wondering about the weird angles in the screencaps, so that they'll die together.

The scene itself is Robin Hood and Marian thinking they're about to die, tied together in the desert. Marian tells him to start saying his wedding vows, so they can finally be married before it's too late. (And he totally has the power to do that too :xd) It's love. I swear!

I'm a luurve fanatic :D This time a fandom with which you (based on your list) is not familiar with. However, I'll explain some things and I couldn't resist posting:xd

Shelter Me
Sex and the City season 6
Samantha is the kind of woman who doesn't like personal attachments. She relishes on one-night-stands and loves sex. It really is the love of her life :p She meets "Smith" (his real name's Jarred) at a restaurant he's waiting and decides she wants him. She begins this affair with him where she's got the upper hand. She decides when and where, how... It's a control that's important to her. However, Smith very sneakishly weasels his way in under her skin. Because, despite what she might say, she gets lonely and sometimes even the foxiest of them all needs someone to hold her.

In this piece I tried to show the fabulous, the sexy and somewhere, the desperation. I wanted the picture of her to represent the image she gives of - control, power. Then I wanted the text to represent her inner insecurity - if she would put herself out there, would he be there to take her?

A Better Reason
End of season 6 of Sex and the City
Remember the couple above? So, Samantha got breast cancer and had to go through chemo. In the process she lost her sex-drive, tad ironic considering... Anyway, she tells Smith that when he's on location (he's an actor) she understands if he would sleep with someone else. He replies that he doesn't want to sleep with someone else and that even though trees loose all their leaves during winter they still bloom again when spring comes. Later that episode he (from location) sends her a spring flower (you know the kind that blooms during spring) - I think - with the message "Looking forward to spring..."

Now my piece is the scene where he comes back from location and tells her that he loves her. Then she finds that she's got her drive back and the camera moves to show that the flower Smith sent has bloomed. I wanted to really put emphasis on how he and his love for her helped her through her very difficult time and that right then and there, he was exactly what she needed and wanted. The extreme green (yes I know it there and believe it or not, it was greener!) is supposed to show life and how her life force is awakening again after the cancer. I wanted something that no-where looked dead, because right in that moment she's more alive than she's been since she found out she had cancer.

Entry three
Hehe told you I'd come back and make another Clark/Lois wallpaper ^^. I really feel they are perfect for this challenge, and as an other (eh or not...) explanation you might want to look at my other entry :D. I find them hillarious, and absolutely great to show a different kind of love. As their future is kind of set in stone, and you know they will fall in love (and be perfect for eachother, hehe :xd) I think it is simply fun to watch how it grows and starts out :p. This piece focuses on that their relationship will become something a bit different, and not really what they expect, in the future. There is a kind of flame in front of Lois, that symbolises kind of her spirit, and of course I couldn't but use this picture of Clark, when he looks a bit unsecure and nervous :p. I have just a bit recently been watching both 'Apocalypse', 'Crimson' and 'Noir' (I feel guilty, but hey marv episodes :xd.)

Entry 1: Hallelujah

Okay, I loved the theme so and I had a lot of ideas for a lot of different couples/friends etc., and nothing really worked out. So, in the end ... I'm back with a Bangel piece. Not very unique, but it's definitely love. I hope to be back with a wallpaper of more unique kind of love. :p I don't think that I've to explain the idea behind my piece, it's just Angel and Buffy ... my favourite tv couple.

Gah! I'm so thrilled I got to enter this challenge! I went a little *spaz* when I saw no Twilight entries - :lol: - but I finally got this huge inspiration this morning to just make Buffy art, so here we go. And I've also been listening to a sappy and amazing instrumental Bella/Edward fanmix, so I'm all lovey-dovey/angsty at the moment. :p

First Entry: Let Me Be The One

My first thought was: sacrifice. I love this scene when Buffy doesn't think twice about what she'd give to save Angel's life: killing Faith, killing herself. All she knows is that she would give everything she is made of for everything that means anything to her. Did that make sense? :xd Angel is the love her life, and she would rather die than see him die. I made it dark and morose because it is about Angel sucking the life from her, literally. I wanted to keep the images somewhat compact and close, and concetrated on Buffy, because it is about her sacrifice for Angel.

Second Entry: Doesn't Love Me

I really love Riley in this moment, because it shows just what a good guy he is, and how much he does love Buffy. This episode was really about love, especially between Xander and Anya, and at the end, about the realization of how much he loves her and is willing to give her (i.e. growing up and getting the apartment and moving in with her). At the end, he has that realization as well as seeing what Buffy and Riley's relationship is. Buffy isn't IN love with Riley, she loves Riley, but she isn't crazy, head-over-heels, the way Riley is for her. And he knows that. He understands that, but he doesn't care because he'll take her any way he can and this last scene with Riley and Xander talking and then Xander watching it in action, is beautiful, because he sees who Riley is and what he is about.

Dude I think this is the quickest I've ever made a wall in my life. Under an hour baby! WOOT!!! And I'm extremely proud of what I ended up with. It's probably because there's no text to screw me up. :p Anyhoo, I did a wall that has nothing to do with Cruel Intentions OR Buffy! I know, crazy right?! :lol: There's a first for everything I guess. I did this wall on Gollum in Lord of the Rings. Now I hated all those movies. They were way too long and didn't interest me one bit but the other day I saw a clip from LotR: Return of the King and Gollum's "death" (I'm not actually sure if he died or not since I haven't seen this movie) just made me love him more. He was the only part of those movies that I liked. So of course I see this challenge today and the first thing I think of is Gollum's love for his "precious". Gollum spent all of his time trying to get his precious ring up until his death, which was the cause of his death. I guess when he was fighting Frodo he went over this cliff into the hot lava below and died. So yeah, that's what I did. Enjoy. :D

Second Entry: Into the West

When I saw 'The return of the King', I fell in love with the couple Faramir & Eowyn. It's not the great romance of the story, but I love the two characters and how they came together. They both lost everything and they found eachother ... the title isn't very good, but I couldn't think of a better one.

2nd entry. Greatest View

Hope this makes sense. I'm aware that Faith and Angel aren't or haven't been a couple, but they do share a kind of love in my eyes anyway. They relate to each other in a way they can't with other characters, because of their dark past, and this makes for lots of entertainment when they've got stories together. Anyway the text is from Greatest View, by Silverchair... seemed to fit because they watch out for each other, so if one falls the other is there to pick them up.

Mistresses
If there is a bigger "fool for love" than a wife who keeps forgiving her husband for cheating on her, I'm drawing a blank. This piece is about Henry VIII (I'm going through a major Henry VIII/Tudors phase...) and some of his many affairs with other women. I wanted to show that he didn't only have one woman on the side, but many. Something Katherine of Argon (his wife) knew but forgave as long as they were married (she didn't even want to divorce him). Furthermore, Henry wasn't that bothered by hiding his affairs - or always the children that resulted. The woman at the bottom right corner is Katherine looking up, watching Henry have his affairs with other women. Oh, and this piece is totally inspired by the member doppelganger47, who's style is awesome and brilliant^^

Alright so I have this Clark & Lois piece that when it started I wasn't sure where it would go, but I totally loved these two images together. Anyways, it's kind of inspired by the movie Clark and Lois in the sense that Clark is pining for Lois and Lois is pining for Superman and it's all just a game back and forth between them. It's not exactly the same on Smallville of course, but there's definitely some chemistry between them and even though it's only hinted at, we do see it come out from time to time.

Explanation:
Thanks for letting me do a "real person" piece for this challenge!! Okay so my piece is about Elvis Presley and his love for his mother. It was really hard to find HQ pictures of them together, so i had to use just one large pic of Elvis and then smaller photos of them together. So i chose their love as it was special. Many people have ideas that their relationship wasnt healthy, which is untrue, there is no proof to back it up at all. Elvis & his mother had such a strong love/bond as Elvis actually had a brother, a twin in fact that was stillborn. As a result of this his mother was very protective of him, so they were always together. When Elvis became famous his mother didnt really take it that well, as she was afraid he was going to get hurt etc... She became a very sad person and ended up as an alcoholic, she died very young... Elvis was crushed and never really recovered from it, many people say he died when she did. Wow a long explanation!!! Sorry :roll:

Though I've only ever caught a few eps of The Office, I have to say this peice blew me away! I especially loved the way you were able to acheive the depth perception in this peice in the center....really great blending work. Loved the lighting and textures in this as well! :xd

wow, this was just totally what I had in mind when I started this challenge, you perfectly combined raw emotion with visually stunning artwork! This was just too exquisite for words. I loved everything about it, from the layout to the pic and text choices, to the coloring and brushwork. Very superb work! :hug:
