Challenge 57: The Journey of Man

First: Woo hoo my first challenge! :D

Second: the challenge itself. I've had so many ideas for how I should do this challenge, but the one that has really stuck with me is the one I'm gonna do (obviously). Many moons ago I re-watched Gilmore Girls and in the season six episode We've got Magic to do Kirk does a dance called The Journey of Man, which "accidentally" is the title of this challenge ;) In it, he portrays the journey of a human being's life, being born, marrying, dying etc. This is what I want you to portray. I want no wallpapers that shows "an important moment for this character" (like Buffy finding out she's a Slayer). I want you to show "normal" important moments in life. Oh, and yes you can do scenes where a person dreams this (or something similar). like when Buffy dreams of her and Angel's wedding. Here's a list of some things I have come up with, if you have any further suggestions please PM me :)

Furthermore, because I'm an egoistic b*stard, I want you to keep with the shows and seasons I know (oh, I know... I hate it when people do this too but since this is my first I really want to "know" your entries). However, I love long and winding explanations, find them a fun read. Also, it'll give me an insight into the piece.

Deadline: Sunday 17th of February (just before my own bedtime, whenever that will be, late...)

Yay! Inspiration struck the moment I read this challenge, which is something that hasn't happened in a long time. Anyways, I had recently been watching 'The OC' and this challenge really evoked some Ryan love. Mainly this moment was a biggie for him. After his mother abondoned him not once, but twice, he just feels he doesn't belong anywhere, little lone a place like Orange County. With no family and no place to go it was this moment that really made him feel like he had a home and that he belonged somewhere with people who really wanted him to be a part of their lives.

Okay, I haven't entered any challenges (much less made much art) lately, but I saw that death was on the list, and being the morbid person I am, decided to redo a wallpaper I did a long time ago that I've wanted to remake forever. So, here is a wallpaper depicting Fred's dying in A Hole in the World. I restrained from using the image everyone does which is the actual "why can't I stay?" moment because honestly who wants that on their desktop? It's unbelievably depressing. The main reason I stayed away from that is that I wanted to express her acceptance of her fate in those last moments. She knew she couldn't stop it, and though she tried to fight it, I wanted to show that she did accept death, no matter how unfair. She told Wesley she wasn't scared over and over, maybe to convince him, maybe to convince herself. But there you have it. I love how it came out, and here it is.

I was looking over the fandoms in your list and I thought, "Excellent opportunity for some Felicity action! :D" So I looked though my caps and decided to do an art about going away to university. Every year, lots of students go clear across the country to attend college and are faced with an incredible amount of change. They all deal with it differently, for sure. And Felicity encounters both freedom and fear. So here I decided to sort of capture some moments about her big move!

Also, I think this is the very first black & white fanart I have ever made. I never really liked the way they would turn out if I attempted them so I just stopped trying. But I really wanted to try and make it work here because I thought it would be so fitting....like capturing a memory. :)

Totally loving the concept of this challenge:heart: I decided to be topical and do one on Brokeback Mountain as I have just watched it for the first time ( I know, where the hell have I been!). I'll put it in spoilers tags JUST in case anyone hasn't seen it.

I decided to do my entry about death as it touches all of us at some point in our life and it's a journey that everyone has to go through and each individual reacts in different ways. This is about the way Ennis deals with Jack's death. Ennis has always been introverted and a man of few words and after he loses Jack he becomes more so. He moves away to an isolated trailer/caravan, away from civilization, and deals with his pain alone, cause obviously he couldn't tell anyone about him and Jack. Ennis's pain, loneliness and despair was never said in words, but through Heath's acting you know how empty he feels, how much he misses Jack and would give anything to hold him again . I think this is what a lot of pople feel when they lose a loved one. Found an excellent poem on the web that really conveys his feelings.

That's one loong explanation but I hope it's acceptable for the challenge. I ain't very good at explaining things.

Well I was going to do the Buffy/Angel breakup, but it gets me to emotional so I did the Spuffy one, because I actually find it hopeful. Although my piece came out a bit more 'born again' then I wanted, I got tired of playing around with it. It's a really important part of Buffy's life.. and I guess Spike's. This moment leads them eventually to better places.

Big first for me, this is my first none-Buffy-TV-Show piece.
I wanted to do a piece about Death but since I already did a Jenny and a Joyce piece, I wanted to try something new so I chose one of my favorite not-BtVS death scene, Marissa's. I really love The O.C which is a bit underrated imo, I especially love the two last seasons. I chose Buckley's Hallelujah's lyrics since it's the music played during that scene, I tried an "à la Ehlywen" piece again, I don't think I made it, how is she doing anyway :lol:, but still I kinda like it. I called it Last Breath as a reference to Buckley's line and cause I did a special effect on one of Marissa's cap with breath coming out of her mouth just before she dies.

I havn't done art in awhile, but doing awards latly for the AFA's made me kinda stir crazy and this challenge was very interesting to me, so I put something together, still not sure how I feel.

This is for the movie Batman Returns and its kinda about Death and Birth. Its the death of Selina Kyle after she is tossed out the window by her boss (after she does some snooping and finds out some stuff) and through her death another is born Catwoman. The black-leather-clad-ass-kicking-vixen.
It is more about Selina's death but I thought having a bit of Catwoman helped balance out the peice.

No, I'm not dead. Nor have I been hit by a car. I've just had a lot of "life" on my hands... Between school (which is demanding) and friends(whom IMO I still see way less that I'd want to) I have no time. Lousy excuses, I know. Another excuse I'll throw in there is my total muse-less-ness... I can't seem to feel any particular desire to art, which is one of the many reasons to why a forced anonymousa, to make them for me (though of course I did the judging). So that's the sitch...

I've judged this with one favourite out of every "life moment" and the traditional 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. And I'm sorry for the poor comments, but I have a train to catch soon...
