View Full Version : Smiley problems and one other issue

I've checked my User CP for the option to turn on smilies and there isn't one, I've even checked in all of the forum styles in case it just got left out of one.
So I can't see smilies. All I get is the alt text when I click on the smiley link and in the threads I don't see anything at all.
Also, in the chestnut theme there is the section at the top that has the links for User CP and other options that is missing. I wasn't sure if it was just left out or if doesn't exist in this style but I thought someone should know.
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem with the smiley images but I am hoping that there is a way to fix it.
Thanks.

I suspect the smiley thing is a problem on your end.
As for the chestnut theme...the top links are not missing for me. Did you perhaps look over them?

You got me thinking. Did I overlook them? So I checked and I haven't. Here are some screen shots just so you can see that they aren't there.
Here is the Default theme displayed in Firefox (everything is where it should be):

Here is the Chestnut theme also in Firefox:

And the Chestnut theme in Internet Explorer:

And as for the smiley issue, I just can't figure that one out. It's odd.
So any ideas? Is it maybe a setting I can change on FF. I never had any problems at BW with smilies and I always used the default style so... anyhow.
Help, please?
That's very weird. I've just opened the forum in FF to check and I can see all the smilies and images at the top :s
I can only think it must be a setting for you on either FF or your firewall as nobody else has got the same issue (well that I know of). Sorry I can't be more helpfull :(

Okay, I see why the links are not showing up for you. It is related to the smiley issue, as the links are actually image links in the chestnut theme.

Looking at the FF tools, I cannot see any way to have the images appear other than have the "Load images automatically" checked...which, presumably, you already do or absolutely NO images would show up across the net.
It's a peculiar problem and I am sorry I don't have a resolution for you. :(

Ya know, it's very odd. I have checked all of my settings and none of them are out of whack. And I just opened the site in Netscape and suddenly I can see all images. So weird. But it can't be a firefox related problem since it was happening in internet explorer as well.
Well whatever it is, I guess it'll just have to be a mystery. I'll just access this forum from Netscape from now on.
And I'm gonna close this thread (assuming I have that option here).
