I was just wondering if this site will be continuing as the main forum site.. or will we ever be shifting back to Buffy World.

Will both continue? Is Howard still working on Buff World Forums? Or are we just keeping that site for the info...

This is our home, Nostalgia. We moved here because of database issues and whatnot and then the whole BW site actually went offline before a new owner decided to pick it up. This is not a temporary forum.

And in fact Nikki is working to put content on the main page of the site.

BuffyWorld is owned by some completely different guy now. BuffyForums is a permanent, independent site, owned by Nikki and populated by the old BuffyWorld community. And, it's a better board anyway :)

Buffyforums is going to be its own entity and not Buffyworld's forum.

Nikki is almost done cleaning up the transcripts and has some more work on creating an interactive front site for Buffyforums with news and events. She plans to have it up in January I believe. This way the community will have some input on what news goes onto the front site rather than be dependent on another person. That was always a disappointment when Buffyworld was our main site, we had no control about what the page looked like or what information went onto it.

I believe 2008 will hold some big and fun things for all of us here at Buffyforums. :xd

I for one am glad this is the official home now. Mostly because I was never a BW member so it would be extremely sad losing all of my posts to join over there.

I look forward to seeing what kinds of content Nikki has planned, and can't wait to have input. I would love it if BuffyForums could end up as a nice, one-stop-shop for fandom, instead of still having BuffyWorld for transcripts and shooting scripts, other sites for music information, etc.

Yes. And I wanted to add that this is going to be cool for issuing news about popular fanfics and for our fanart challenges and things of that nature.

Now you know how everyone who moved here felt about losing all there posts and everything!! ;) Some people even lost their fanfics and things of that nature because there weren't backed up elsewhere!

Hopefully it can grow to accommodate as much as possible. But there are still some excellent sites out there, like Jaina's Dusk 'Til Dawn and Anna's chosentwo.com. And a few others. And we have our wonderful screencap-paradise for caps!! :)

Everyone should just be on the lookout for an announcement in the next month or two. Maybe three. We don't want to rush Nikki. ;)

Thanks for clearing it up guys :) ..

It is sad that I lost my post count (very close to getting a banner :()..

However, the one thing I did like about Buffy World Forums was the cutoffs for seasons in terms of Buffy and Angel.. season sub threads..

Will this be brought back?

Nos I was just thinking about that today too!!! I didn't know you had had it previously but I was thinking that would be cool if we did have that. *confuses self* :s

Oh don't worry I understood your guys' situation after hearing about it from you guys. It was very sad what happened. I still don't know how I found this place basically when you guys started to use it as a backup. Buffyworld never even showed up as an option when I was looking for a place to go. :p

1. Yeah, the VIP eligibility post count is lesser on this board right now so PM Nikki. As long as you don't have any current warnings you will be made VIP right away. :) Check the FAQ/Rules threads for more info on the specifics.

2. No. We got rid of the sub- -season forums because of the limited activity. If we feel the need to bring them back then we will. But there aren't enough threads in there to warrant it right now. Although, the Buffy forum has been growing lately...

It will grow even more. I'm usually pimping it on any LJ I post on, or on Dark Horse's forums.

Well, now I know why I haven't been in the VIP forum.... I have three infractions for spamming.. :( I guess I'll have to wait it out.

And, probably no more spamming would be the right approach, too. It's not hard to aim for 2 or 3 complete sentences per post :)

Well, you have to PM Nikki for access anyway. It doesn't work on an automated system where you get access the second you reach required post count. But yeah, sorry. Just don't get any more before 09-01-08 and you'll be all good! :) That's only like three weeks!

Okay the post above me is definitely spam. I would appreciate this topic going back to the main point rather than dissolving into a conversation on who's spammed or how they spammed.

The PM and rep system are designed to keep spam off the boards but allow people to have personal conversations and build friendships.

Speaking of spamming. Knock it off! :cussing: :p

I know different boards have different rules. We have ours because we (most of us) have been involved with this one/BW for over five years and know what we like to have the board run smoothly and productively. A lot of boards aren't as strict with their spamming as we are. But that's for a reason. It clutters up threads and makes them not as enjoyable to read when people are going off-topic or just replying to say they agree or whatever. So, these are rules that are in place to keep our board a quality one. Most people will spam here and there without realizing and we know that. It's not like we are out to penalize anyone. We're just trying to be fair.

Anyway, let this thread revert back to its original topic of discussion.....which has pretty much been addressed already. I'm sure someone will be by soon enough to close it or something. ;)

EDIT: Oops. Lyn got here before me. Sorry, girl!

I don't understand what you're saying.. I should have assumed this already? I don't come into these threads too often.. and I don't think I should be looked down upon for not knowing something. Was it a stupid question or something to that effect?

Ehlwyen

No, it's not an inappropriate question. :xd I know there is a lot of confusion still about BW and BF. Always glad to try and help clear up questions.

But we also had a post about Frontsite (http://www.buffyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1663) two threads below, that the posts in this thread have started to be discussing again.

It clutters up threads and makes them not as enjoyable to read when people are going off-topic or just replying to say they agree or whatever.
I also want to say that when threads turn into conversations between two or only a couple people, other members feel excluded or that they are interrupting when they put their own thoughts in on the original topic.

I'll leave this open for Nikki so that she can her input as it is her site.

And btw, Nostalgia, I wasn't refering to your post in my above post. The spam post has since been deleted.

KingofCretins

She wasn't talking about your post, she was talking about mine (which I deleted, accidentally making it look like she was talking about yours). I spammed in the act of apologizing for implying all you do is spam by letting you know I added to your reputation as a way to recognize that I know you contribute far more than the incidental spam.

Anyways, we're all very glad that this is the new and wonderful home for this fine community :) I will now say "spam" again. And then I will again say that this site is far more enjoyable to me than BuffyWorld was, because people contribute to discussions far more enthusiastically.

Well, considering even the fanlisting moved over to this place I think it's safe to say, Buffyworld is on it's own - Buffyforums will continue on on it's own and continue the legacy that was created on the old forum and begin a new era online among fans.

Had no idea Nikki was putting up the transcripts on the main page next year, guess I got me some competition ;) *grins*

I've been working on the getting the transcripts sorted and uploaded since June. I'm nearly finished the project and the bulk of the site is coded, it just needs a design! I'm hoping that after my 2 weeks off over Christmas it will either be online or almost ready to go online!

I made the decision about all this when Mark shut BW because I didn't think then that the site would ever come back up. It will still be nice to have everything together, plus it will be a more interactive site :)
