Challenge 24: One, Two, Three Victims!

It took me ages to come up with this challenge, as I haven’t posted art for ages. But I did figure out this concept…

Concept:
The concept for this challenge is ’recurring’. Whether it be themes (power, love), lines (Lost’s 'Don’t tell me what I can’t do' or Buffy's '730'), characters (Ethan Rayne, Anne Steele) or whatever you come up with. I’m okay with anything and everything, as long as you show your interpretation of the concept. PM me for any advice.

Entries: Unlimited, quality over quantity.

Size: Anything not too small (wallscrolls get brownie points)

Deadline: 28th of June (I’m Australian, so figure out the time difference)

Entry 1 - Which Vampire?

I hope this is acceptable in this challenge, for a recurring theme, I chose Buffy dating vampires.

Entry 2 - Learning

I decided to do a Tru Calling piece about Harrison, he is always getting into trouble and most of the time it is because he is stupid lol.

Nearly missed this one! Only looked at it today and noticed that it closes in a couple of days, so a quick couple of entries.

The theme of both of these is death, or overcoming death. As we know in the Jossverse death is rarely the end - especially for Buffy who died twice. Over on AtS Wesley nearly dies twice before the end of the series - hence the recurring theme...

In S2, Wesley is shot and in S3 his throat is slit by Justine. Both times we get a shot where it looks as if he has actually died, and these are the focus of this piece. I wanted the colour to be very muted, but the blood vibrant, to indicate the shock of a near fatal attack.

When Buffy died the first time, she didn't want to and when she was revived there is a look of pleasure on her face. When she died at the end of The Gift, she was at peace, and when she was revived she has a look of horror on her face. I wanted the painful moments to be dark and the pleasurable moments to be lighter, which I hope I have acheived. The composition on this was also very important, as I wanted the younger Buffy to be looking at the older Buffy - dead but at peace - and seeing the good in it. Vice versa for the older Buffy looking at the time when she didn't want to die, and wishing that she was still there. This was to symbolise the journey she travelled and how her opinions had changed.

Ok I did this one really quickly cause of the deadline, not really happy with, I hope I'll have much time to do one more entry. I did my art about one recurring metaphor in the serie: the road...The importance they have during Buffy, however it is to leave, to come back, to escape someone or something or to see the path we've done, the sentence is mine, i just wish I had much time to find a better font...but there's two versions of it...

I thought I was out of time, since I read recurring I thought about one major recurring character of the Buffyverse...CHEESEMAN...I didn't want to betrayal the specific aspect of Cheeseman, so I made some freaky mad art...to honour him...I hope I did it

I decided to go with the recurring mention of "People Always Leave" from One Tree Hill. Of course, that's how Peyton feels. And I focused on Peyton and Jake since they had several partings over the seasons.

Oh my god, I am so not completely happy with this. I got home from school, saw your challenge thought "ooh! I want to do this", then saw the closing date.
Add to that that my photoshop kept playing up (it took ten minutes to open anything)
Anyway, I just chose to do the slightly recurring theme of Buffy waking up alone after making love to her boyfriend of the time.
I wanted to do men leaving her, but I thought I'd have to do a wallscroll, and I didnt have the time.

But yeah, thats my fourth version, and I'm still not happy with it, but I figured I'll enter it nonetheless.

Hope I got this in on time. Decided to focus on the recurring theme of Buffy's loneliness. Because she is the slayer she feels that she cannot get to close to anyone and that no one will understand what it is like being the slayer. This makes her feel alone and apart from everyone else.
