Since this forum isn't too active I thought I would make a thread for general discussion rather than for a single episode.
I liked the premiere. I like the idea of an on-going investigation and this cannibal thing is creepy. It made wonder if the Gravedigger will ever be addressed again; he was never caught so....
This whole Angela husband search is weird but I like how it gives her and Jack some good scenes.
How about Zach? Poor guy had to leave Iraq because he couldn't assimilate. I think they should give him a love interest already and help him be more than just an awkward bone guy.
Thoughts, anyone?

I agree the Hodgins and Angela separate storyline was really awkward to the style of the show. Though I loved Angela's original drawing of her husband! LMAO! I knew it was coming considering her altered state but seeing it was too funny considering abstract is so not her style.
Another change was how this episode really finished on an open ended "to be continued" note. They usually wrap things up rather than a continuing mystery. So it kept the episode at high intrigue since it didn't have to waste time on a wrap up of who and what was happening.
I was so disappointed to see Zach return. He's always been my least favorite of the gang. And I really liked that new guy that was so close to getting the position. I think it would have been much more interesting in dynamic to have the new guy for a series of episodes and then have Zach return and them have to learn to work together. Alas, no. Just a silly and disheartening reason for Zack to be sent home from his personal journey.
More Smithsonian forensics and anthropology and teamwork! Less personal and separate storylines! I love group dynamics!

I dunno. Zach is okay. He feels very tacked on to the team. I think the writers should develop his character more. Show us why he is so socially awkward. I think he has potential as a character, we just haven't seen it yet. There is something I find endearing about; he wants Booth's approval and I like watching Booth smack him down. And I love those moments when Booth gets a glimpse of who the kid really is and understands him.
I didn't like the new guy too much. But that's because every time I see that actor I just see him as a character he played in The X-Files. :D He has a peculiar was of speaking that I can't get past.

Oh, I don't hate Zach or anything! It's just that he's the one I am least interested in. As well as he tried to do something different and out of his expected path, which is very adult. And then he got sent back home like a child who wasn't old enough to play. I find very sad.
I'd love to see more dimension to him other than just the "I'm a geek, and that's just who I am," persona.

You know that's a very good point. I've only watched Bones as it has aired and have missed a few along the way rather than watching them back to back. So trends are kind of hard to keep up with. Though you are absolutely right! It's delightful when Booth and him interact!
Ahh, makes me lament even more that he couldn't assimilate into the military. Seeing Zach become more like Booth while rectifying that persona with his geek self, could have been interesting.

I didn't know that other guy from anything, but I can completely understand how a previous character overshadows the new character. LOL, and I don't think he spoke enough on the episode that I noticed it! Better off then! ;)

I think I don't have a problem with him being sent back home because he was sent back--not as a child--but as someone who just didn't fit in. This is his defining characteristic, that he cannot fit in anywhere except the Jeffersonian. Being sent home is just another indication that he has to step out into the real world and learn how to develop personal relationship. Step away from the bones, boy!
And I think it probably helped that I watched both seasons within a week of purchasing them. Everything is pretty fresh in my mind. :) Watching things week to week, you can lose a lot. Watching Bones this season is going to be weird since I am used to viewing it in a marathon. :p

I have to wait until November to see Season 3 but I can't wait :D I hope we find out about the Gravedigger because that has been bugging me. I'm glad Zach hasn't left the show I love him. I can't wait for the Angela storyline with her husband, sounds pretty funny.
Ok I started watching Bones 3 weeks ago and yesterday I caught up completely
So many things I love about this show it's been really enjoyable watching a few episodes every day now, and now I'm not looking forward to one a week!! I love when they work on cases that relate to what's going on in their lives. The Death in the Saddle (way funny!) showing that you should love someone no matter what their darkest fantasies are. Bringing Bones back to see her Father because of it was a nice touch. It's kinda what I felt Grey's Anatomy was doing before it became more about the drama of love triangles and relationships going bad! Hopefully this show won't lose this excellent balance of clever cases, intelligent people and general goofiness! :D
I love Zach, I don't know why, just the geaky naive kid is really sweet, plus I love the way he interacts with people! I know he needs to grow up and interact more with the real world but a part of me just wants the goofy kid unable to connect with anyone outside the lab! Also it took me a long time to get over the change in dynamics when Cam joined in season 2, I feel a new person at the start of season 3 would be awkward, maybe slotting someone else in later down the season would work nicely. But I don't think they could have replaced Zach for me. I just want to pitch his cheeks!!!
I love the story line with Bones and her parents, her dad helping her find Booth and getting arrested for it was really good and I hope they continue the relationship now he's going to trial. I would like to know more about their past and how they came to be those people. The Angela husband thing I remembered from having watched it all very recently, her picture of him was really funny and it's nice her and Jack are being a bit more serious. I always felt they rushed into this a lot and didn't really know much about each other outside the lab, maybe this delaying their wedding will help them realise the reasons they should be doing this for.
I really want to find out about the Gravedigger, that episode and the one with Epps the serial killer have been my favourite episodes outside the ones around Bones' family.

Then it's not just me. I'm glad to know that others are wondering about the Gravedigger. We usually get resolution with who the killers are but this one is just left hanging and I am so curious about it! It was a really intriguing episode, even if Brennan and Hodgins weren't trapped in that car.
I am really hoping they revisit this in s3.
Yep it's weird that they left that one hanging, I think Bones said something about leaving it up to the experts to catch him.. well we normally see Booth do that. And the same with the murders in the first episode of season 3, they caught that one guy with the diamond tooth but they agreed that there was someone else.. when I watched the second episode I expected it to carry on it felt so open to me. It's definitely unlike them so I only hope they are setting it up for another episode like they used Howard Epps twice.

Well, I actually think they may be doing several eps on the cannibalism. It seems like they were setting up the first episode to be the first in a series of that storyline. In any case, I am sure it will come back up for at least one mo ep.

i've heard they plan to go further with the widow's son/silver skeleton story and the gravedigger story both later in this season. along with epps and max keenan, there are several story arcs that they have done on bones that really bring the series its most depth and a bit more of a serial aspect as well as the inner relationships of the squints.
max is probably the most important of these (along with caroline, he's always a joy to see as a recurring character--he's always a highlight of every episode that he's in). the zz top guy playing angela's father is another i hope we see again sometime. and i've heard that david is currently working on getting an actor whom his mother always said he looked like to play his dad at some point. i'm glad they've brought in several recurring characters.
i wasn't all that fond of the "death in the saddle" episode except for booth's speech at the end. i admit my views on a lot of things are actually quite akin to booth's. booth is by far one of the most relatable characters on the show. and strangely enough, the other character i really relate to is zach (it's that aspergerness).
i really want zach to get more focus. he really needs a boost in importance like he had before. unfortunately, he kind of melted into the backdrop for a long time. i think it'd be good if he perhaps got an episode where he got to go out on a case with booth or something, instead of brennan. he needs that character boost big time.
whereas jack was one of my favorite characters in the last two seasons, i have not been all that impressed with the direction of his character in the last two episodes.
the season opener was excellent, however. the last episode was the weakest this season so far. hopefully we'll see more episodes along the lines of "the man in the fallout shelter", "two bodies in the lab", "the woman in the sand", "aliens in a spaceship" and "judas on a pole".

I too have heard that they are digging (no pun intended!) more into these stories later this season. The Gravedigger one really left me wanting more I sooo loved that ep!
and i've heard that david is currently working on getting an actor whom his mother always said he looked like to play his dad at some point.
Also heard that we are going to find out more about Booth's family (his Dad and his over-acheiving brother) in this season. I reckon Booth's dad was a real stern military man, dontcha think? Whilst we're on the subject of recurring characters - how about Gordon Gordon? I would LOVE to see him return (Well you gotta love Stephen Fry!)

God yes! I always thought that it would've been much better to have Brennan leave on the sabbatical with Sully for a few eps and have Zack in charge. (Not quite as predictable as her saying that she wouldn't go.) I think there's more to his story in Iraq than he's letting on, so hopefully we'll hear more about that. I liked the bit at the end of the last ep when Booth is talking about "good" sex and they show Zack and Cam as totally lonely people. It was nicely done, without overkill, to introduce more personality to them IMO.

The two final eps of S1 are my faves so far as they both deal with Booth's and Brennan's past respectively. In a way I'm sad that there was so much time spent on Brennan's parents last year. I agree that those were good episodes, but the mystery surrounding her parents is over and it isn't anywhere near as interesting, IMO, to see Max go to trial than Brennan trying to discover who her father was.
Oh and Nikki... Great to hear that you've fallen for DB's ample acting charms again, but you never mentioned any feelings towards Brooth! Are you in the mindset of "They should get together" or the "It would totally ruin the show!" mind?

i wasn't all that fond of the "death in the saddle" episode except for booth's speech at the end.
Agreed. The speech at the end makes the whole episode for me. Without that I wouldn't care for it much at all. And I really love how Brennan responds so matter-of-factly "you're right." It's nice to have a man make these sorts of romantic statements when usually they are reserved for women characters. :) I've actually been trying to find some screencaps of that scene so I make some fanart!
whereas jack was one of my favorite characters in the last two seasons, i have not been all that impressed with the direction of his character in the last two episodes.
I concur.
I'm glad to see some Zack lovin' for y'all! I think he has so much potential if only the writers would attend to him appropriately.
Oh and Nikki... Great to hear that you've fallen for DB's ample acting charms again, but you never mentioned any feelings towards Booth! Are you in the mindset of "They should get together" or the "It would totally ruin the show!" mind?I like Booth, he's a nice character, got some dark past and now he catches murders to save people.. it did take me a long time to stop seeing him as Angel. But now I do like him and I love the way him and Bones interact. I do think at the moment them getting together would be wrong but I think they have potential at some time. I love how he looks after her and gets jealous and I love the way that comes across without the sex getting in the way. I love how they are both always interested in each other's partners! Bones going on about Tessa in season 1 was great, and Booth not really liking Scully was fun!
So I vote not for them getting together quite yet!
As for Death in the Saddle, it wasn't the best episode but I did enjoy laughing at the pony play.. those guys are nuts! Booth's speech at the end was great but it did make me think of Angel's 'Champions don't accept the world' speech which after 2 seasons of trying not to think of him as Angel.. humm! lol
I love Jack, and Angela, but together at this point they seem to have lost a bit of their sparkle. Zach has great potential. I can't wait to see what happens to him this season, they gotta give him some more cases now :D

So I've been away for a couple of weeks and just managed to catch up on the new eppys.
Generally, I liked both the new episodes but more so the one with the Halloween theme. I did however love the new shrink, and how Booth totally made fun of him. Homework from Sweets - classic! Has anyone else wondered what in the hell could Booth do 12-15 times a day?
How cool was it that the fun of them crimefighting in costumes wasn't played for slapstick, but was so funny just to see them doing their normal jobs only dressed as Cher or Catwoman.
On another note I felt that these two episodes seemed to concentrate more on the job than the personal side issues and I'm a little relieved. It was good to see the gang getting back to work and talking in all their techno-babble (of which 90% I don't understand a word). Then again seeing Azura Skye pop up was great.

My fave part of this week's ep was Brennan jumping on Booth's back to avoid the snakes!
Oh! And her "this gun is too big for me." :rotflmao: That's too funny since she made a big deal about hers being bigger than his last season. :D I am really enjoying this season. It's one of my most looked forward to shows every week. :)

Man Jenni, let me know next time you start a season 3 Bones discussion thread! :p
This whole Angela husband search is weird but I like how it gives her and Jack some good scenes.
Lol, that was my fave part of the episode--I found it to be hilarious, esp. Angela's drawing of him! The only other good part was how excited (like a little kid!) Booth was to get Brennan out into the field--otherwise a very mediocre season opener! It's strange how they never seem to be able to get the first epp of a season right--similarly 1.1 and 2.1 were more mediocre than what came later....
Another change was how this episode really finished on an open ended "to be continued" note. They usually wrap things up rather than a continuing mystery. So it kept the episode at high intrigue since it didn't have to waste time on a wrap up of who and what was happening.
Meh, it wasn't very satisfying though! And the mystery doesn't seem compelling enough to be a more seasonal arc IMO....
Oh come on, you can't have Bones without Zack! I was so upset when they sent him off to Iraq last season, so I'm glad he was back by the middle of the first epp--he's such an important part of the dynamic, it wouldn't be the show I love without him! With whom would Hodgins compete for King of the Lab?! ;)
More Smithsonian forensics and anthropology and teamwork! Less personal and separate storylines! I love group dynamics!
Wow, that's the complete OPPOSITE of me--personally it's the personal stuff (esp. B/B) that is what I'm most interested and keeps me tuned in each week--I don't really care about the cases themselves! It's their interactions I love....
I too have heard that they are digging (no pun intended!) more into these stories later this season. The Gravedigger one really left me wanting more I sooo loved that ep!
Supposedly the original description of the epp gave away who the murderer was, b/c originally they were going to wrap it up in one epp, but then decided to leave it open--which I think was nice b/c Brennan and Hodgins were the important part, not the case itself--so some people know already who it is (not me though)....personally I suspect the author writing about the Gravedigger, he seemed way too invested in him, the way he got all upset when Booth said the Gravedigger made a mistake, and said "The Gravedigger does NOT make mistakes!"
SO TRUE--BRING BACK GORDON GORDON!!!! I adore that man....the shrink two epps ago was okay b/c it allowed for some great scenes, but GG must take his role soon....no one knows Booth better!
Oh come on, there's no way Brennan could have left, you can't have Bones without Bones! ;) Plus it's much better the way it was--stupid Gary Stu Sully sailing away and out of sight, with Booth (the one she REALLY loves) there to meet her!
Oh and Nikki... Great to hear that you've fallen for DB's ample acting charms again, but you never mentioned any feelings towards Brooth! Are you in the mindset of "They should get together" or the "It would totally ruin the show!" mind?
I know, I'm happy too--always awesome to have another Bones fan, esp. as there don't seem to be too many on this forum!
And to quote the Facebook group, "Booth and Brennan need to get it on NOW!" ;) Well, maybe not now, but soon--it's beginning to get ridiculous, and the too slow growth in their relationship is making it awkward and forced right now....which is sad!
Agreed. The speech at the end makes the whole episode for me. Without that I wouldn't care for it much at all. And I really love how Brennan responds so matter-of-factly "you're right." I didn't like the speech that much....kind of felt awkward, I don't know why....but don't forget the scene of Brennan's research on horses! "Hay is for horses!" "How do you know that?!" How adorable is Brennan in that scene?! That def. made the epp for me--otherwise I found it even more disturbing that the usual gore, lol!

Whoa. That is an epic post there Katharine! :xd I may come back when I'm not so sleepy and random!
But I have been wanting to echo how much I liked that speech. Booth is halfway through it and I'm just passively listening and then it strikes me how appropriate and profound his perspective was. I was impressed and felt better for having heard it. And yes, Booth being the emotional one is definitely an interesting dynamic this show has.
My favorite part was Booth kicking down the haybales. Wheeeee, looked like a lot of fun!!! And hilarious might I add about him thinking outside the box and the maze's natural implied constraints.
Oh and Booth's expressions at the killer clown in the amusement park were adorable!
OMG that was hilarious when she said the gun was too big!
This was a solid good episode and seemed to zip by. I liked the red herring of Shawn...errr...Reaper boy. It's Rider Strong, how can we not expect him to have a significant role in the episode when we see him at the first crime scene. *has watched too much Disney channel over the years*
The Angela husband thing just seems to be dragging on and on for me. I guess it's cause I know that Angela could practically be divorced by now if she had just moved to Kentucky when they found out last May. Silly DC/Virginia/Maryland laws making divorces so convoluted.

Oh god that was funny--everyone wondering how to get through the maze, and Booth takng the simple, direct way! ;) And the clown thing was too cute (though that WAS one scary-ass clown!), and it's good to know there was more to his shooting the ice cream truck clown that mere frustration! ;)
I know that Angela could practically be divorced by now if she had just moved to Kentucky when they found out last May. Silly DC/Virginia/Maryland laws making divorces so convoluted.
But living in DC/Maryland is so much cooler! ;) Sorry, couldn't resist....loved that the murders took place right where I live, though as a result I knew that that part of the show was a tad off--there are no florists/shops in b/t Bethesda and Friendship Heights, just houses! ;) And apparently Metro (not the subway! Get it right! :p) has trains with rubber wheels, so there would be no metal dust on the turns....but oh well!
And honestly, you're saying they'd let you divorce in Kentucky without the husband's consent? I don't see what's so convoluted about it, the convoluted part is tracking the husband down to sign the papers!

Really? I didn't know that! Weird. So you know who it is? I have to admit my suspicions lie mostly on the author and the negotiator. They both seems to invested and both have too much to gain from exploiting it. If it isn't either of them I would just think it was some random person we don't know about.
SO TRUE--BRING BACK GORDON GORDON!!!! I adore that man....the shrink two epps ago was okay b/c it allowed for some great scenes, but GG must take his role soon....no one knows Booth better!

No, I don't--but some people out there do. But yeah, I would put my money on those two--both b/c of their investment and suspicious behavior, and b/c we don't really meet anyone else, and the murderer is never someone we haven't met in the epp....

Okay, so I finally caught up with Season 3 of Bones.
Gotta say one thing about this show: love it.
I don't usually like doctor/crime shows, but this is a total exception! The chemistry, characters, story, and humor is amazing and I just adore it so much! Thank you Katharine! I get a new show because of you:hug:But, then again, I probably need less shows  :p
This latest Halloween episode was awesome  :D I was surprised at how non-comedy this episode was, seeing as from the previews. But, there were some awesome parts!
"What do you know? You're a horse's ass!"
"Cow. I'm a cow. See my utter?"

I loved Casey actress! The PI girl! She was hilarious, as well! "If I had to rate him on a scale from 1-10, I'd give him a 10 to the tenth power."
But, my favorite part was when they saved the girl. But, this just increased my fear of clowns! This and Supernatural! Damn television haha. I loved the, "My gun's too big for me." haha! The line, "One shot. A hell of a good one." was nice. I liked seeing Bones actually kill someone, that's interesting.
Next week looks pretty awesome, bringing back the cannibalism, am I right?

This is a bit off-topic but I didn't want to start another thread on it. Sky One in the UK is preparing for the new season of Bones to air on Nov 8th, and on Friday night on their sister channel Sky Two they showed "Bones - The Story So Far". It was a documentary special with Cat Deeley on the set of Bones and talking to Hart Hanson, Emily Deschanel and of course David Boreanaz.
I mention this, not just because there's another chance to catch it at 11pm on Tuesday (Sky Two again) for us lucky UK-ers, but mainly because Emily states to Cat that something WILL happen between Booth and Brennan in Season 3. When she mentioned this Hart Hanson very quickly comes over and tells Emily that she must return to work. It could be just a ploy to hook us viewers in, of course!
I was watching Judas on A Pole last night and was reminded how close Brooth came to being at the end of that episode and looked as if it was building more in the subsequant ep until StupidSully came into play. I am still hesitant about the spark going out of the show if they got together, but I do think that something should be slipped in to keep the hope alive.
It seems to me that in the S3 eps they don't seem to be as close as in S1 and the beginning of S2 and I feel they are drifting apart (or that the writers are running out of ways to show their affection for each other, that hints at their love but doesn't vocalise it). It's as if they've both realised that there's never going to be anything between them and so it's fallen into a comfortable friend situation, which IMO is a shame.
So how do we feel about the possibilty of something happening between them, even if it's only temporary? I quite like a kinda get drunk and sleep together then regret it scenario (only more sophisticated than that) It would add to the tension between them, make the Brooth shippers ecstatic, but also give the show something to work with in the future (you know - distance between them, trusting each other again etc etc)

Well, it seems they have been drilling it in to us viewers that there is a bit of a disconnect between the two. And for two reasons: 1(he arrested her father and 2)they were left standing at the altar by J/A. Apparently both of those situations have left a little divide in them.
And yes, I too, like the scenario you present of how they "get together." It satisfies everyone! :D
Also, you might want to put those "spoilers" in the spoiler font. I'll rend it to another mod to edit it just in case you don't come back for awhile. :)

Regarding new cast member:
There's a new regular cast member joining the show. John Francis Daley aka Sweets. From WWK:
As you may have heard, John Francis Daley is joining the cast permanently, and by midseason he'll be fully in the mix, assisting in suspect interrogations and working up psych profiles. This turns out to be especially useful when Booth gets himself an admirer/stalker. Wonder what Brennan will have to say about that? I'm also hearing producers are planning an American Idol-themed episode. In fact, they're currently searching for former Idol finalists who are interested in guesting on the show!
What do y'all think? Personally, I am sure the show will be great no matter what but I think it might take me some getting used to watch Sweets interrogating and whatnot. Although I can see how it might be neat to have Brennan constantly having psychology around as part as an investigative tool. We know how much she hates it! :p
But I will miss Stephen Fry! :cutecry: I hope he can come back for a guest spot every now and then. Kinda like what's-her-name attorney prosecuter lady. Can't remember her name right now. :(

Does anyone know if Bones might be affected by the strike? I can't seem to find any info on how many scripts they have, though other show info is out there...:(
Oh, and DB was joining the picket lines in LA....go David! :D

Might be? Of course it will. All scripted shows are. Including late night shows and The Daily Show, all of which were banished to repeats as of last night!
And it should be like most prime time shows meaning that they have enough episodes/scripts for about 4-6 new episodes.

12-11-07, 04:56 AM
Well I had heard that some shows had enough scripts already for the full season, so...
In the case of Bones, I've just seen it listed that they have completed 12 of 22 ordered epps. So not too many (I wonder if this includes the pulled epp? Honestly, if it doesn't I'd rather that they just air the pulled epp as it originally was, so we'd have one more epp of Bones-goodness to see plus so we'd get to see the original Hodgela proposal!).....but on the other hand it means that unlike with VM, they did get renewed for a full third season, whcih is happy....
Though the fact that Fox has announced that beginning January 4 Bones will air on Friday nights is NOT happy--I'm so pissed off at Fox for doing this! What do you guys think--do you think it might kill Bones to do this?! :(
Jenni Lou
12-11-07, 05:46 AM
I can't say for sure. Friday is usually the kiss of death. But if the writer's strike becomes a very long struggle, it might not be the worst thing. It might be the slight only bit of original programming on that evening. However Friday Night Lights is said to have like 15 completed eps for the season and it airs on Fridays.
Still. FOX with their crappy track record, has shown relatively good interest in Bones and so I suppose it shouldn't send it to Friday to kill it. Rather, I would think it might find a new audience.
Maybe.
Oh yeah. Me been :drinking:

So what did you guys think of this week's epp?! Or the last two....they've all been so good! :D I loved seeing the conspiracy theorist bookshop owner from TMB guest-starring in last week's epp along with Professor Landry from Veronica Mars! (Though technically TMB conspiracy theorist was also in the end of season 3 VM!). And the epp two weeks ago with the murder in the Jeffersonian was exciting and awesome too....though not as exciting as this week as it turned out! Wow, was that explosion and chase scene intense! Plus that old guy was creeeepy! Seriously, his hiss, and his eyes....it really freaked me out, even gave me shivers! And the end was crazy too--you knew what was going to happen, but it was still a thrill!
And then there was that great stuff with her dad and Russ, and best of all the cheek kiss! Holy crap, was I squeeing at that, I was so shocked I couldn't believe what had just happened....I even turned to my friend, and she said, "Did she really just kiss him?" Amazing! And next week looks REALLY amazing--could we get what we've been waiting for at last?! It looks like it, the way they were leaning in....though they also said for the season 2 finale that the moment we've all been waiting for would happen, and it sure didn't! So I still doubt a little....
And did anyone else think that the graveyard they used for the one scene looked a lot like the Sunnydale graveyard from Buffy? I wonder if they used the same set....

Lol, I guess Dan was right then when he said he felt like after this epp Daley was here to stay! I kind of wish he wasn't a regular, and more a recurring guest star like Caroline (the attorney you were trying to think of, lol! Loved her appearance in this week's epp too!). But he's still fine...def. means he's not the killer then, though I and many others suspected he could be Gormagon after his unusual interest in the case.....kind of like how I think the author in "Aliens" was the Digger.
I too hope Stephen Fry comes back sometime....it'd be funny even to see him appear and give his opinion on Sweets--I'm sure Booth would whole-heartedly agree! ;)
But ugh, I hate the sound of the American Idiot-based epp--as if AI wasn't invasive enough to poor Bones's slot! Plus it's blatant and ridiculous cross-promotion (the "I'm smarter than a fifth grader" line was bad enough), and all of us hate AI anyway, given the abuse Bones gets from it--so why sic AI on us on our beloved show?!

I thought it was a great ep too. I have to say that there was that amazing shot of Booth swimming underwater as reflected in that motorcycle helmet. It looked awesome! Kudos to the director of photography for that!
And yes, the old man was creepy as hell. :err:
And how bout that last shot of the teen jumping out with knife at the corrupter? Even though you know it's coming it was really spooky 'cause that kid looked crazed!!!
And the kiss was indeed sweet. I love how Booth didn't know what to say for a moment. :)

Yeah, I agree.
I quite detest AI and it is total cross-promotion and I think it is lame as hell but whatever, I guess.
Sweets is growing on me a bit. He seems to be a bit of an aid to the team, I guess. I like the actor 'cause he was neat in Freaks & Geeks! But yeah, Stephen Fry is awesome. I read in WWK last week about Fry having enough to do in England as it is but that it is still a possibility that he may do a guest spot at some in the future. I never suspected Sweets as Gormagon though. :/ It just doesn't fit for me.
I am totally loving season three. Just got done watching this week's episode. I'm gonna put what I think in spoilers for those who haven't seen the episode yet.
The cheek kiss was so awesome. And how about the concern Booth has for Bones when the car goes rolling. He doesn't even take time to worry about his wounds, his main thought seems to be getting her out of the car and making sure she is okay.
My thoughts on Gormagon...I think Sweets, the therapist guy, is Gormagon. My reasoning is this...he had some pretty good insight on the case. Insight that he didn't seem capable of after looking at his sessions in the previous episodes. He seems dorky as a therapist, making Bones and Booth role play. But he actually added some intelligent thought into the case. I'm not sure what kind of practice he has, but he may have contact to younger people...so he could scope out his apprentice. I hadn't suspected him before this episode, but now I do. So I'll just have to wait and see.
Respons to Risa's post, all in spoilertags so noone gets spoiled who doesn't want to ;)

During the episode my suspicions began leaning towards Sweets too. He seemed very perceptive about things and came to loads of conclusions that just seemed to be more informative than someone like Booth or Bones who's standing on the good side digging into this thing would know. But after seeing that very short clip in the very last scene where we see Gormagon attacking the victim (forgot his name) it's pretty clear it's not Sweets. I checked the clip about 5 or 6 times because I was thinking we knew this guy outside the case but, no go. Not Sweets. And if it is, they used another actor ;) But they really did work hard on pointing everything in his direction. :)
EDIT: was reading the forum for tv.com and someone brought up an interesting point. We could be right that it is Sweets afterall who is Gormagon. The madman in the closet could be his new apprentice. He looks pretty young and could fall under that "category". About Sweets work, isn't it soly focused on working with FBI? That's how I interpreted it when we first met him.. or my mind if slipping. Either way, if his work is ONLY for the FBI then how would he find his apprentice? Of course he could find one if he worked on it but it would be harder than like the old guy who worked in a perfect position at the social services. Anyway.. I'm gonna stop rambling on here...

Man, I am like the only one without the suspicion of Sweets. I wonder why that is. It just never added up for me. Boy will my face be read if it turns out to be him!! I mean, I see how you guys feel the way you do and it does make sense to a certain extent. I see it. I do. And the fact that he was introduced in the season a few eps after the cannibal storyline and that he has elevated interest in the case is to be noted. I guess time will tell.

Well, before this episode I never suspected him. And of course it could be that they're just playing with our minds just to spice things up. They like to do that which is annoying sometimes - I wanna catch the bad guy!! Anyway, I'm going back and forth because now I hear he's joining the cast on a regular basis and that makes me think he's NOT Gormagon. This is all very confusing. :s

I agree, I can't believe it would be him. I just feel it would be too weird, he's a therapist for the FBI.. no just can't get my head around it! Plus at the end of the last it definitely wasn't Sweets. I think Sweets is just really excited to be this close to solving murders instead of talking to boring old men who's wives want to leave them! He's young and eager, but I don't think he's Gormagon
I'm really enjoying this season, I love the seasonal mystery for sure and there has only really been one episode that I didn't love so far :D

I guess it depends on how it plays out. I mean, it is a mistletoe kiss...but I get that there will be emotional reverberations of awkwardness that stem from it. SO it could make it either really tasty or completely unsavory. Hey, who's hungry? :p

Totally. *nods in agreement* The show is just fantastic. I never liked CSI a whole lot. It's good in its procedural quality but I like that Bones has a strong character angel to it. And more humor. It just makes everything so much better! :)

Just got to watch "The Knight on the Grid" and gotta say I completely loved this episode!! (So pleased I resisted the urge to look below the spoiler tags too!)
How about that cheek kiss and Booth's reaction to it - awwww! Then how he did all those things for Russ just for Brennan - another awwww!
It's so weird though, I didn't know anything about the episode and what happens in it and just last night I had a dream about Booth and Brennan in a car crash with Booth driving and then boom it's in the very next ep I watch - freaky!
Also, the trailer for the next episode - OMG they're gonna kiss!!!!!!!
So who do we think is Gormagon? I too thought that in this ep it could've been Sweets, but that definately wasn't him at the end jumping out of the closet. I read on the Fox forum that there's a lot of specualtion that it could be the head honcho at the Jeffersonian from The Intern in the Incinerator - the one who threatened Angela, (can't remember his name) but I'm not sure if the age is right - the original widow's son skeleton has bones from over 50 years ago and if a 15yr old was recruited to be Gormagon then he'd have to be about 65 now. That head honcho guy looked to be mid fifties to me.
I totally believe that it must be someone we've already met, as it would seem a washout for it to be a stranger now

Wow....wow.....wow......WOW!
SPOILERS BELOW!
Um, brilliant much? That episode had it all! Best episode of Season 3 yet and definitely in my top 5 of Bones EVER! Sorry, can't contain myself!
First off, nice stuff on the case. Personally, I really hope the Cannibal is someone we know. I was thinking Sweets, but then I saw the Motorcycle Dude, or, as I think, Dudette. Was I the only one that thought the person on the motorcycle looked like a girl?
The explosion was amazingly shot and I loved Booth's concern for Bones! That was the best! Also, the old Cannibal was really, really creepy. And his smile at the end :err:
Okay, the guy jumping out at the Corrupter at the end was.....I jumped.....I was scared  I think he was an apprentice, though. I think the Motorcycle man/woman was the real thing, because the guy at the end definitely was not on the motorcycle. I'm not sure! AH!
So, I loved it. I love this season. I love this seasonal arc. Man, I love Bones.

Awesome Xmas ep! The kiss was sweet. We all knew it was coming. :p I like how Booth was more flustered about it than Bones.
And when Booth and Parker brought the tree to outside the prison, my eyes welled up a bit. It was such a sweet gesture. Bringing the Xmas magic.

Agreed, Jenni! I loved this episode!
The case of the week was hilarious, imo! I loved Booth being mad at the fact that Kris Kringle put his last apartment as North Pole   And I loved the other Santa's, too. ("You need a hearing aid!" LOL) Even if it was obvious, it was great!
I loved more Brennan family interactions! Seeing Russ and Brennan's dad again is great! And I loved that Bones and Booth were gonna have a sucky Christmas, but then did have a great one :D And can anyone saw Captain Fantastic? CAPTAIN AWESOME! *sorry, Chuck reference*
And I love Caroline in this episode and the kiss was my favorite part. I loved the circumstances that it was under and I'm glad they aren't dating now, or something, cause that would be stupid. And the kiss just ruled.
I loved Booth bringing Bones the tree  That was awesome. It was just great. And did anyone notice the music that was at the end of the Pony episode? With the speech? Cause I did! :bounce:
Loved this episode.

Meh, am I the only one who did NOT like the kiss? :err: I just feel like it's a cheap copout, and it wasn't even a very good kiss--and I didn't really like the way it was forced--just not very satisfying. Def. not the moment I've been "waiting three years to see"--I wanted their first kiss to mean something, be significant, be natural and good--this as just not....:( I'm kind of disappointed....I wish they hadn't gone this way. I mean, it had some comedic value, which I enjoyed to some degree, but....I don't like Caroline playing matchmaker, though it's pretty natural for her to do so I guess (I mean, everyone I'm sure is dying for them to just kiss already!)--if it's not going to be a genuine kiss, I prefer the season 2 finale "tongue-kiss the maid of honor" duty, lol....
As for the rest of the epp, it was pretty good (not as good as "Man in the Fallout Shelter" though, IMO), though not as good as last week's--I did LOVE the end, soooo sweet and cute! Also loved the Captain Fantastic stuff (esp when Parker said, "But it's funny!") and Booth going with Brennan to Africa! Damn straight--go on vacation with Brennan! :D Also loved, "Why would you pick Burma? It doesn't even exist anymore!" Nice interactions with Russ and her dad--kind of cool that they're spending Christmas together when her dad disappeared on Christmas day all those years ago--nice coming full circle...And nice continuity as far as Zach going to Michigan for the holidays....
Anyone else a bit confused about the mystery though? Was Kris the pickpocket or the other guy? And why wouldn't they have washed their uniform to get the soup off?! Not the best mystery IMO, though it was funny (and very weird) how he was just like santa...where did he keep the reindeer though?
And how weird was it to see Sweets added to the opening credits? Kind of surprising/disorienting, when you're so used to the credits....I still would prefer him as a regular guest star rather than a full cast member...
And please bring back Gordon Gordon! :( I love him too much to never see him again--he can get into a mental face-off with Sweets and pwn him! :p

yeah, the knight on the grail is definitely my favorite so far. but i did like this one.
i dug the santa thing (btw, i think it's the bad santa who was pickpocketing because he had a bruise on his eye from the coptic policeman--the money must have been placed postmortem).
the kiss was forced... though the word "puckish" and the steamboats "a whole flotilla of them" thing almost made up for it. was that brennan's gum that ended up in booth's mouth. i don't think so, because brennan's was white and booth's was blue. i think booth knew what caroline would make brennan do--if the fact that booth had gum in his mouth is any indication.

1. Yes, I also think the bad santa was the pickpocket.
2. I think it was Brennan's gum and it was a continuity error. Although I have to admit that the kiss was rather stiff and then and definitely not open so I don't know how her gum would get in his mouth anyway. :p Plus, if you have ever kissed with gum you know it takes some actual effort to get it in the other person's mouth.
I loved last night's episode, the whole Santa thing, the jokes around it.. all greatly played out. The worse thing about the episode was definitely the kiss.. Caroline wanting it just seemed so played to me and yep there is no way her gum could have got in his mouth, neither of them even opened their lips and with Caroline watching.. nah it was just weird! :s
I love Brenan's relationship with her father, it's slow but it's really coming on and setting them up as a family for Christmas, understanding how it's ok to lie at Christmas to keep hope alive for children was really nice. I thought it was really funny that Booth was trying to tell her that all along but Sweet's comes in and puts it to her and she gets it
Lovely interaction with Parker and Booth, especially going to the trailer to put up a Christmas tree outside, that was sweet :) Just the episode I needed after the day I had yesterday

I didn't love the kiss or anything, but I didn't think it was horrible or anything. I thought that the way they handled it was nice, even though they were doing it just so they would kiss. I loved the kiss in last weeks episode on the cheek, though.
This way, the kiss won't destroy their relationship and make them more than friends. Personally, I don't want that. And this was a good way to make some people that wanted to see them kiss happy, and others that love their friendship happy, too. That's my take on it, anyways.
And on the Santa thing, I got the impression that the bad Santa stole, and then Kris Kringle confronted him, and bad Santa killed him.

I loved the kiss in last weeks episode on the cheek, though.
Yes! That one totally trumped this one. That one was genuine and sweet and I just loved Booth's reaction to it. I, too, didn't love this kiss this week...but it wasn't entirely terrible. It did come off as forced though. As if the writers wanted there to be a kiss so that they could postpone a real one even longer!
first: Booth looked good this episode (Well the episode of last week), he had really pretty clothes. I loved his black coat and the spencer.
And the story behind Santa, I liked it. Here in the Netherlands we are celebrating 'Sinterklaas' tomorrow, it's nice to hear something about that.
I liked the MotW, I knew who had done it since we saw tha black eye of the santa, but I liked the story around the victim.
The kiss was cheesy and how did the gum end up in Booth's mouth? Anyway, it was a weird set-up ... I liked Brennan was honest about the deal.
The end was really nice, and I like Parker.

So I was reading Ask Ausiello and there is youtube link to another take of the kiss. And this one is much spicier! They should have totally gone for this one. Of course, I know why they didn't--it was just too much for the B/B relationship in a scene where a kiss is essentially forced. Still, take a looksie! :boff:

No new eps till MAY!!! :cutecry:
But the ep that was pulled last season and that has been tweaked will also air in May. From Ausiello:
Guess who's back from his two-week vacation?! That's right, me! Guess who's marking the occasion by reporting some spectacularly sucky news?! Yep, me again.
A reliable source at Fox confirms reports that the final three pre-strike episodes of Bones are being held until May sweeps. Sucky, right? Wait, there's more. The show is relocating to Mondays at 8 pm, where it will be followed by original installments of the Julianna Margulies courtroom drama Canterbury's Law. The Bones/CLAW combo kicks off on April 28. (This season, May sweeps runs from April 24 to May 21. Call it Mapril sweeps.) The decision to hold Bones until May is the clearest sign yet that Fox is bracing for a long strike.
But with that depressing news out of the way, here's a little silver lining to cheer you up: Those three pre-strike Bones eppys are being joined by a fourth never-before-seen installment. Per my source, the infamous school-shooting-themed outing that was pulled last season in the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre has been "tweaked slightly" and is scheduled to see the light of day in May.
So, what do you think? Is May too long to wait for fresh Bones? Will the afterglow from Booth and Brennan's holiday smooch have long since faded? Or do you adhere to the belief that absence makes the heart grow fonder? Speak now in the comments section below. And, c'mon, admit it: It's good to have me back.

It's good news about the pulled episode from last season, but if you've only started watching this season then you're gonna say "Huh?" with the Hodgins/Angela stuff.
Well at least they're *trying* to put out new stuff, and not relegating it's slot to some awfully inane reality show!

Well, from what I understand the episode has been retooled to fit in time with the current season. SO maybe there will be flashbacks or something.
What sucks more than waiting so long is that obviously FOX has no faith in the strike being resolved any time soon. Otherwise I don't see why they would postpone new eps for so long.

First off, I've never seen "Players Under Pressure" EVER. I know some haven't but I wasn't watching when it aired and it's not on the DVD, so I'm sure as hell glad to see the first Angela/Hodgins proposal (right?).
But, I'm pissed off. This is absolutely ridiculous! May is way, way, WAY too long. If the strike is resolved, does this all go away? I'm pretty angry about the four/five month wait, but more pissed about the time movement. MONDAY IS PACKED! I have Chuck at 8 on Mon., followed by Heroes :( Tuesday was my day DEVOTED TO Bones. That is one of the only days I can sit down and watch an episode as it airs, rather than DVR. There it goes, Bones added to my DVR list, along with Chuck and many other shows. That SUCKS.

Yeah, there is certain information about the episode that came out. I mean, it was going to air so people knew about it. It was pulled because it had something to do a school shotting and in it there was a proposal.
Anyway, sherrilina knows who the Gravediggers is...or was supposed to be. because in the episode they revealed it but then they re-edited it or something.

Oh. SO, some of the writers released what happened?
Katharine knows? Hope they change it (the gravedigger answer AND the episode) so they can bring back the storyline for Season 3 :D

No. I believe it was in the episode description and from spoilers. I mean, the episode was completed and set to air and was pulled abruptly. So there was a lot of info about it!

Oh! Okay, gotcha ;)
Do you know if it will be included in the Season 3 Boxset, if there even is one (due to lack of so many episodes).

Well, as I wrote earlier (;)) the episode has been retooled to fit into season three. Presumably, that also included reshoots and the like.
So I would assume it is technically apart of season three now. :)
